Plot summary

In 20 years’ time, there will be nearly 1.6 billion smokers around the world. Approximately 70% of smokers want to quit. The United Nations’ World Health Organisation expects a billion people will die prematurely from smoking this century. The products their doctors recommend are rarely effective and many are trapped. A new vapour technology was invented to give smokers a successful way to quit. But it was quickly demonised, and even banned in many countries. A perfect storm is brewing between smokers trying to quit, government regulators, and health charities funded by the powerful pharmaceutical industry. Director Aaron Biebert travelled across four continents interviewing doctors, scientists, and others working to save a billion lives. What he found was profound government failure, widespread corruption in the public health community and powerful subversion by big business.

Hits all the right notes

ABL may come off as one-sided for some, but it hits all the right points with regards to public perception on vaping, and how the smear campaigns have influenced that perception. A lot of people still can't distinguish the difference between vapor and smoke. Probably because of the stigma associated with smoking. Average people are still skeptical about vapors, because we've all been conditioned to avoid anything smoke-like (smoke-belching cars, smoke from restaurants, and others including of course cigarette smoke). I hope more people, especially government health department reps, view this documentary.

People need to know

The film, by Aaron Biebert, promotes vaping and e-cigarettes as tools for helping smokers who want to quit.Vapers are the ones who've been awaiting A Billion Lives but the public are the one's that need to see it and government department of human services, and your own local MP.The biggest threats to vaping are the media, 'Big Pharma", and a good majority of government officials. One point in this film that came home was nobody cares.

The truth is scarier than the fiction

This amazing documentary on the uphill battle that the vaping industry has faced since it's earliest stages will show you where the opposition comes from.

For years, we have known that money moves politics, and to get to the root of a question, you should follow the money. This film does just that and in an in-depth and unarguable way.

It is not a promotion of vaping for vaping's sake, but a look at why the tobacco companies, pharmaceutical companies and the governments they support don't want you to make the change from analog to electronic nicotine delivery.

110% worth watching if you vape or know anyone who does.
