Plot summary

A Dark Comedy by Guile Branco. As Angela, a former dancer, descends into madness, her family tries to cope the best they can. After an infamous dinner where a certain "finger" incident occurs, their lives collectively spiral to new levels of chaos, including, but not limited to, a sadomasochistic power dynamic, a cozy coffin and a bloody endeavor where a dinosaur may or not be present. All of the skeletons will come out at a Halloween night feast.

Don't take it too seriously. It's just fun.

Starring Lynn Lowry and Julia Coulter. Directed by Guile Branco.Written by Guile Branco & Arthur McClenI love, love, love independent horror movies. So when I got a message asking me to check this one out, I jumped on it ASAP.This one is think piece that will bring about some truly deep emotions. The struggle of a retired wife who is looking for her place in the world now that her job is done. Her struggle with mental health and holding her family together.F#&k that.This movie is about a retired wife who doesn't give a sh!t anymore. She's going to do what she wants, when she wants and however she wants. A Halloween Feast will take you down a path of subjects that most movies wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.The acting is on par with independent horror movies. Lynn Lowry is really something to behold as Angela. The look in her eyes. The way she speaks. Unhinged and beautiful.More gore (not that gory) than horror (not scary). More comedy than either of those. This movie knows what it is and relishes in it. Between the acting and the dialogue, this movie feels like its giving you an elbow to the side going "ehh ehh".The characters aren't fleshed out very well and I feel like at least two or three could have been omitted completely. I suppose they were just there for the body count. Grandma has no story but she was awesome.Worth a watch if you dig independent horror, for sure.IMDb gives it a 5.1/10 For me, it's a 6.0/10Right or Wrong, Weak or Strong These are my opinions.

A nasty, campy good time!

A Halloween Feast might be more of a comedy for sickos than it is a horror film, and that's perfectly fine with me! While it's clearly low budget and narratively chaotic (the latter seems intentional), it is competently crafted and makes the most of what it has to work with, ultimately serving up a spooky-flavored John Waters-esque campfest. Well, I'm not sure if even Mr. Waters could have come up with a twist quite as, um, depraved as the final revelation of Feast, but I'm sure it would meet with his approval!At its best, this is hilarious in both its outrageous, gory set pieces and in its more lowkey jokes- I'm not a gorehound, so a major LOL for me was when the main character tells a drunk Nietzche-quoting man who wears a dinosaur costume for a living that "it's nice to meet someone so normal"- the dating pool is rough, ladies. But then there's Lynn Lowry's absolutely unhinged lead performance, which is honestly iconic, and when she's front-and-center the movie really sings (not unlike Kathleen Turner's work in Serial Mom). "THESE FEET HAVE DANCED AROUND THE WORLD" is destined to become a popular quote in the cult horror movie crowd.If you're down for indie horror and you get a kick out of Waters and co's brand of camp, or if you're an appreciator of the pitch-black humor amidst the spurting blood in Leone's Terrifier films (you freaky weirdo), you'll probably vibe with this one. Maybe don't watch it with your family, though.
