Plot summary

Ainsley McGregor, a former Chicago criminologist, has moved back to her hometown of Sweet River, Texas, to teach criminology at the local university while also being the owner/operator of Bless Your Arts, a shop for community artists. Bless Your Arts is honoring a true Yarn Goddess, heiress of Real Wool, Ellie Mitchum who arrives with a cold demeanor before turning up cold, as in dead. At stake in the mystery is the future of Ellie's Fortune 500 company and her feuding family angling for control. As always, Ainsley relies on her brother, Sheriff Ryan, her boyfriend, fireman Jake, and the eccentric band of sleuths who masquerade as a Book Club to solve the crime. Whatever the mystery, Ainsley McGregor is always on the case.

Certainly not a Hallmark movie.

Seems like a Hallmark knock off. The main character solves mysteries with her Book Club members... She runs a craft shop, not a librarian, has a budding romance with fireman, not the cop but... has a dog, not a cat, still sounds a lot like one of those other mystery series... mmm what was the name of that one with Aurora .... The writing is far less polished... it is just okay.

got better

New film about Ainsley McGregor was quite boring at first. I really wanted to drop it, but I sat through the whole thing, and it did get better! The mystery was OK, the setting - preposterous as usually. But that's the genre. So the premise: a wealthy heiress who used to live in Sweet River comes to town with her entourage and gets killed.Of course Ainsley is investigating. Her sheriff brother and firefighter love-interest do their best to help. What I'm not loving is the book club. It looks too strained, too forced. Like, look at all those quirky characters from a small town! How different and fun they are. They are not. As fake as everything about that town is, they are the worst. That's why I didn't like the first half of the film: too much of the book club people, too much of their arts shop nonsense. I still don't understand why Ainsley has to be a criminologist, professor of criminology, own a craft market, and be the sheriff's brother. All at once! When does she find time for all that? Too many reasons to meddle with the investigation!Loved that the mystery really picked up the pace and finished strong.

not for the serious film lover, like candy floss for the eyes

I guess if you like these not even 'B' movies, closer to D, youll like this but it like biege paint drying on a biege wall. You could go out for 10 mins come back and feel as though youve not missed anything. The people seem pleasant enough, kinda look like they have been in long running soap opera's i cant think of the u.s ones are, but i believe one is general hospital ? Anyway if you just want to miss some time in your lives and not feel fullfilled watch this. You know, its not gripping it dosnt test your brain, as i said its like watching paint dry. There are a lot of these hallmark/style films.
