Plot summary

To reward himself for his new teaching gig in Sapporo, 29-year-old Manabu decides to celebrate New Year's Eve with a little treat at a local sex club. On the verge of... climaxing, he's struck by a brain hemorrhage and ends up buck naked at the hospital surrounded by his worried family who want to know how this happened.

Can't Make its Mind Up

Intermittently funny comedy about a socially awkward unemployed man in his late twenties, that seems to want to educate its audience on strokes and their aftermath, and on autism, but without quite finding the confidence to do it properly.Told partly in flashbacks, partly looping around the story to reveal more details, this has the unfortunate effect of breaking up narrative flow unnecessarily. Similarly, plot lines appear and disappear without reaching their conclusion.The whole autism storyline seems extraneous to the overall story, and reappears equally pointlessly in a closing scene. A burgeoning romance shows promise but fades away unconsummated. There is a running joke about where the lead's stroke took place, almost turning the story into a whodunnit, and occasional snippets of information about stroke survival rates but, sadly, the narrative feels too disjointed - a genuine shame, as the performances are always engaging and the characters likeable.

Come baby come, baby baby come

In the spirit of using music (90s I reckon mostly) to channel movies and their topics ... I'll stay with my no pun intended agenda though. Highlights may be rare ... wait is that another pun? Well I reckon it is ... yes it is, I won't hide that. We have a man who seems to have a problem when it comes to his sexuality ... actually it may not be the thing you are thinking about.It is quite funny - and you get visual confirmation of his ... issue or whatever you would call it. You have to feel bad for the guy - can't really ... well do what satisfies him or rather would satisfy him ... if he could finish ... it's like someone hitting you on the head ... more than once. I think this has some very interesting ideas ... and it is well done to say the least. I like when a movie is original ... even if it may be flawed otherwise ...
