Plot summary

After visiting a house in Amityville, Keith finds himself suddenly transported to another realm within the home, with no way to get out. Every door he tries leads him back into the very part of the house that he first found himself in.

It was terrible...

Now, the word "Amityville" has become a word that you don't really want to see anymore in the horror genre. Since the original "Amityville" movies up to the 1980s, it has been a steady downhill slide, with one laughably bad low budget movie after another. And I have to admit, that while I still sit down to watch these movies bearing the "Amityville" title, it is a dwindling hope of an off-chance that the movie would prove to be entertaining. But I have to admit that my expectations are non-existing by now.And the very title of this 2024 movie from writer and director Evan Jacobs "Amityville Backrooms", I mean, it just screams to high Heavens of a questionable affair. And the staggering 3.0 rating that the movie had landed, as of this very moment I sat down to watch it, just didn't exactly do much to speak in favor of "Amityville Backrooms" being a good movie. But I still opted to give it the benefit of the doubt, on the way off chance that it would be a good movie.Just look at the movie's cover, which looks like it was created using MS Paint.From the very first scene it was painstakingly obvious that this would not be a good movie. And it cut right into the worst green screen scene I've seen in a long, long time. So things were certainly not looking promising for "Amityville Backrooms".While I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list, that was actually something that spoke in favor of the movie. The acting performances in the movie were dubious. But then again, I wasn't really exactly expecting award-winning performances here."Amityville Backrooms" is every bit as horrible as you would expect. Do yourself a favor and don't waste 72 minutes on this movie. Some of us literally suffered through this ordeal of a movie, so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.My rating of writer and director Evan Jacobs's 2024 movie "Amityville Backrooms" lands on a one out of ten stars.

New worst Amityville movie

Formerly, the title of worst Amityville movie I had seen was held by Amityville Hex. That movie has now been dethroned. There is a new king in town.The film opens with a gripping scene of a real estate guy talking on the phone... and then taking a piss. This sets the tone for the rest of the movie. On his way back to his office, he disappears and slips into this movie's version of the Backrooms-which looks suspiciously like someone's house. Occasionally, we're shown the exterior of a home with windows vaguely reminiscent of the iconic Amityville house, but it looks almost nothing like it. I guess they couldn't get permission to use the real thing.Most of the movie is just this guy wandering around a normal-looking house, talking to himself. He spends an inordinate amount of time standing around in the kitchen, as if waiting for the horror to boil. Occasionally, something from the Backrooms creepypasta appears, but only briefly-and the main character doesn't even notice most of them. It's intensely dull. The film is essentially one long monologue in beige hallways and Formica countertops, punctuated by fleeting glimpses of horror that never land. This review doesn't contain spoilers because there is no story to spoil.
