Aquaman is one of the most visually impressive films that superhero films or any movie have done. They made this movie look realistic, especially regarding its CGI sea creatures (which look phenomenal) I will not let visuals carry this movie because this film has notable flaws. I felt that black manta (played amazingly by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) felt he was there cause of fan service and to entertain (which he did greatly with some fight scenes) and that he didn't really do anything major to the story, other than fight Aquaman, also i felt that king norm (patrick wilson) just felt like a villain with a normal villain plan to take over Atlantis but he had some really cool fight scenes but the final battle between aquaman and him felt underwhelming compared to the duel previously scene in the film (which was one of the best fights i seen in a comic book film).
Jason Momoa was a perfect fit for Aquaman and just felt natural for him to play the role, which i love. The romance between Aquaman and Mera(Amber heard) felt natural and didnt distract the pacing of the film and Vulko (Willem dafoe) was a great mentor to Aquaman and felt important in the film. Though i do believe the film heavily used action scenes in the film which could be a bit overwhelming there were a couple of good ones, the scope of the film with its beautiful cinematography is definitely a sight to see for the eyes.
The last 40 minutes or so of the film just felt slow and unnecessary at times and ruined the pacing of the film at points/ The last fight at the end could've been longer and could've been at a different location to make it more impactful and cooler to see (but that's just a nitpick for me) Also the people of the trench and the fishermen people as well as the brine didnt feel fleshed out and just felt like a generic army of people to fight and didn't feel important at all other than just being essential to king orm and didn't feel that fleshed out in my opinion.
But that is my full opinion of aquaman and i hope you enjoyed reading my rambling and if i had to rate this movie i would give it a solid 7.5/10.

Not the best dc film but a very good one that is just entertaining.
I had high hopes but....yeah
This review is coming from someone who likes superhero films but I'll admit, aside from Wonder Woman and Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, DC films are not my fave. ANYWAY:
I cannot believe this has such a high rating? What on earth are people getting from this?
The dialogue was TERRIBLE. The acting was also TERRIBLE. It couldn't pick a genre. Was it a comedy? Was it a soap opera? Was it a policital piece on pollution of the seas? Was it Star Wars? (did they really need all that tech??) Was it Avatar? WHO CAN TELL.
It was honestly all over the shop. I felt like each scene had a different director who was just going to completely disregard what everyone else has done before them.
Positives: the underwater CGI was magnificent. Like, really beautiful. Jason Mamoa is charming. I'll give him that. The female lead didn't need saving once and didn't spend the entire movie screaming, so that was refreshing!
Negatives: literally everything else.
At this point, Wonder Woman is carrying the entire DCEU on her shoulders (in my opinion).
one of the best popcorn movies of 2018
There are moments of awkwardness in the movie, but the stroy is engaging and full of intricate details. The visuals are stunning, too. James Wan definitely did an amazing job with the right cast. I can't think of a better actor to take the role of Aquaman than Jason Momoa. I will give it an A-.
