Environmental Focus, Flat Execution

While The Son of Bigfoot 2 maintains the basic style and narrative structure of its predecessor, it also presents some differences. However, compared to the first installment, this sequel delivers a slightly less satisfying viewing experience and feels rather mediocre overall. The two films differ noticeably in their storytelling approaches. The first focuses more on protagonist Adam discovering his Bigfoot father and their adventures after reuniting, boasting a tight pace, abundant novelty and adventure elements that easily grab the audience's attention. In contrast, the sequel prioritizes storytelling, continuing the first film's plot by following Adam's family as they get involved in an environmental battle against an oil company after his father gains fame as a Bigfoot. Though this ensures narrative coherence, it loses the freshness of the first film; the overall pace turns sluggish, lacking thrilling moments-explaining why it is less "exciting" to watch. The sequel prominently introduces an environmental protection theme, which carries strong real-world relevance. Yet, the theme is expressed too bluntly in the film, lacking depth. It fails to explore the multiple contradictions and conflicts behind environmental protection, such as economic and political aspects, simply portraying the family-run oil company as a one-dimensional villain. One commendable aspect is the limited addition of new characters. With clear distinctions between lead and supporting roles, the audience does not feel confused by an overload of new characters, and the issue of "overcrowded cast" or scattered character arcs is avoided. It is a competent animated film, featuring heartwarming family moments and a positive environmental theme, but it ultimately lacks breakthroughs and innovation.

Two Thumbs Up ?? ??

Amazing Graphics and highly detailed. Even though this plot has been kinda played out they at least made it entertaining & fun. My only wish was they picked another voice actor for the son. It didn't seem to fit him entirely & was somewhat distracting.
