So much Cinema is Psychotherapy ~ especially in America, where the puritan streak meets with capitalism every nanosecond, where the human stain of sexism and racism runs through every frame. Let's face it folks, this is a comic book/look at the zillions spent on promoting the utter dross that is 50 shades ( yes, they are doing 50 Shades 2 ~ the marketing masterpiece ).
I needed a little light relief and as a big fan of Charisma Carpenter from the Buffy/Angel years, I was willing to spend $1.95 Australian ~ American cousins can 'do the math', to have a look at her as she is now. Cordelia was always a sexpot, so it makes sense for grown up 'Cordy' to be revisited.
I laughed, did not take it seriously and was as pleased as punch when Supermichelle got to sock it to the villain of the piece. Some message board mentioned 'Venus in Furs' ~ an admirable compare & contrast study. If anyone is really interested ~ do a triple feature, in any order, of this title, 50 Shades & Roman Polanski's ' Venus in Fur'. Then write a short poem, thesis, review or what you will.

50 Shades of Hype Answered with Action Movie
Waste of time and electricity
OMG ehat a waste of time and money and effort and you name it. The production value was amazingly enough quite high, but that is this films only redeeming feature.....otherwise, dont get tied up in front of this one or you'll be bored to death.
Lacks a gripping storyline but the ending was truly inspiring.
If you're planning on watching this for the "fifty shades feel" then don't bother. However, if you're interested in watching a strong female lead redefine herself within a world of BDSM and understand that her current "relationship" is one to walk away from as it misuses the while concept as a way to torture and control those around him, then this is for you!
The film lacks passion and does not contain one ounce of romance (apart from one character turning up with a bunch of flowers) and I found it requires patience to sit through the whole film and the direction could certainly use some improvement along with some of the acting. Although in saying (typing) this and perhaps I'm quite biased, Charisma Carpenter was most likely the best and only reason why I stuck with this film and not because she was in Buffy/Angel but because she played a character that showed true strength when coming to the realisation that something was bad for and I loved the characters courage in making sure she was heard and understood.
The ending was most definitely my favourite part, it relied on the professional aspect of her life and she took charge of gaining respect from her fellow colleagues whilst also making sure she was the boss. I believe this film has an important message for those who have been treated cruelly whilst using a form of roleplaying that gives those who are dedicated a bad name and that you can come out of it stronger than ever. For this, I recommend this film but have patience and keep an open mind that will lead you to the most defining and courageous part of the film.
