Preparing for an annual tradition, the festivities of a local Halloween festival are turned into chaos when a mutated pumpkin springs to life and strikes out at the gatherers with the intent of going after those who desecrate pumpkins forcing several survivors to stop the creature.
This was a fantastic offering that has a lot to like about it. One of the strongest features of this one is the immensely effective setup that allows for a serviceable story to be told throughout here. The main gist of this is the influence of the tradition in the community and how it sets everything in motion as the initial celebrations trying to get over the local accident before the film starts that hangs over the intention behind everything which is seen in how they treat mentions of it. As it goes through the various introduction scenes about the town's celebrations and how they're getting prepared for everything about the special festival it also brings about several bits about the different characters being involved in their personal issues around town or wanting to leave it. This all comes together, along with the creation of the killer pumpkin as a result of the chemical spill which gives that a strong connection as well, to give the story a strong general starting point. That brings up the fantastic series of actions depicting the pumpkins' rampage across the festival. The resurrection sequence in the middle of the carving ceremony where its spouts come to life and attack the others around it in graphic fashion before turning to the onlookers fleeing which enables them to get taken out as the few survivors scramble to safety makes this an immensely fun start to things. The behavior and powers of the pumpkin are kept in fine order throughout as the animalistic instincts hunting them down, setting up traps, and striking others when they least expect it bring about some fun encounters here as it takes over the farmhouse and stalks the group into the adjacent rooms making for a couple of great deaths along the way. The final half where the few remaining survivors try to get away from the creature and hatch an escape plan has quite a lot to like as well. Putting a complicated and effectively ingenious plan together, the idea of what transpires here is quite good, using the tools at their disposal and the animalistic behavior to lure it around the festival grounds for a genuinely suspenseful sequence that brings about some frantic scenes putting it into practice while letting the series of escape attempts and combat practices to get foiled in clever means as well as bringing about some creative practical deaths with the appearance of the practical pumpkin. This is a bit too long with the escape plan taking up a long stretch of film without much in the way of deaths to help spice up the action, but it's the main flaw to be had with this one.
Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

An incredibly effective and likable genre effort
Goofy little light horror comedy.
This is definitely a movie aimed at the 18-22 age range I'd say. Goofy, kinda tries to identify as a stoner movie but doesn't go all the way in that regard. If you got nothing to watch one night and might not want to take a real serious watch. It's good enough for that. This is going to be no ones favorite movie and I highly doubt anyone watches it twice. I give it a passing grade though...
Look, this isn't the best movie out there obviously. However, if you're like me and basically watch anything horror related you can find under the sun. Then you've surely seen MUCH worse films than this. This is a pure B film straight up. Hm, maybe C? No? I would watch as sequel if one was made.
This is a mostly comedy film as the horror is very childlike. Even the scenes that should seem serious are not filed with tension due to the comedy. I wouldn't go as far to say it's kid friendly as in under 10 but its close. The shotgun scene might be a bit much for young kids just because of the subject matter not really the gore or anything.
I do think the 2nd half was much better. This film did have potential though. I like atmosphere in films especially horror films. I can never put my finger on what exactly it is but this movie also had a strange atmosphere to it.
Matty Cardaropole I think carried the comedy aspect of the film. I think it was a mistake to have him play a lesser role in the first half. Even if they did have a somewhat funny reason for it.
Corey fogelmanis (cheekbones). Everytime that guy turned his head I am reminded of Aaron Carter lol.
To finish. Not the best film in the world. Not the worst. I struggled to decide a 5 or 6. I've seen some TERRIBLE films so anything that didn't bore me to death I tend to feel deserves a 5 or better.
Killer Pumpkin The Movie.
There had been an nuclear spill incident and 2 years later, the people are still trying to move on. As part of the history re-enactment village, a pumpkin carving even is organized. The lead characters includes a playwright and her brother, her actor boyfriend who has won the ticket to big city, a rich parents' daughter with enough surviving skills and an hamming improv artist. Their nightmare begins when one of the pumpkins mutates and goes on hunting humans as revenge. With up against thus monster, how do the group survive, forms rest of the story.
I haven't seen the short and having willingly chosen to watch this, I will not complain too much. It's a killer pumpkin film afterall for Halloween and none of the characters turned out to be my favorite or someone to root for. So the humor was mostly misses and the basic screenplay offered nothing much. That leaves us with the killings and most of them over the top, in sync with the genre. It had couple of known faces but they didn't get to play the main characters. It promises silly fun and for the ones seeking it, the film guess delivers. I wish it had a character to root for and mainly had good catchy one liners, then I would've come on board too.
