Fairly bland...

I hadn't seen "Conspirators" (aka "Tong mou") from 2013 before now in 2021, when I was presented with the chance to sit down to watch it. And it merely being a Hong Kong movie was sufficient to make me sit down to watch the movie, plus it being a movie that I hadn't already seen also helped sell it to me.And while "Conspirators" is a watchable movie, it hardly was an outstanding foray into the Hong Kong crime thrillers. The storyline just felt way too bland and mundane, to be bluntly honest. So three writers - Mang-Cheung Ng, Oxide Chun Pang and Thomas Pang - just failed to manage to conjure up an impressive movie. The movie was evenly paced, though the storyline just didn't provide me with outstanding or memorable events. And this is a movie that will vanish into oblivion as quietly as it managed to evade my attention back in 2013.And not even having Aaron Kwok and Nick Cheung on the cast list could do much to lift up the overall feel of the movie. Not that they were putting on bad performances, though, but they just weren't at the top game here. I believe it was the mundane and lacking script that served as anchors around their legs.Usually the Pang brothers are known for more entertaining movies of higher quality, but of course a streak has to deviate and end eventually. My rating of "Conspirators" lands on a very mediocre five out of ten stars.

Not that great of a movie, but it's not awfully done

This movie wasn't really that great, and I can't say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story isn't really worth noting, and the action scenes weren't special at all. My suggestion is that you could probably save your time and watch another movie instead.

Story wise, the movie is about two detectives, one from Thailand and one from Malaysia, both Cantonese, who solve the same case together. The case revolves around the Thailand-based detective wanting to find out who murdered his parents 30 years ago. He begins his search in Malaysia after catching wind that he should start his search there, and he hires the Malaysia-based detective for local assistance.

Really, there's not much to say. There weren't any "wow" moments, and all the chase and fighting scenes were average at best. You can find them in any other generic HK crime movie. My nephew couldn't watch past halfway because she found it boring, and I agree that there's really nothing that tries to keep your attention.
