Plot summary

For three days in August 1969, nearly a half-million young people descended upon Max Yasgur's farm in upstate New York for the rock 'n' roll event that defined a generation. Mythologized for 50 years, the filmmakers set the record straight with "Creating Woodstock," the most comprehensive examination of how the festival came to be.

The Rest Of The Story

First off I have seen a longer and more thorough version of this. I'm not sure why this one was cut down so much. The original showed a crucial part of the story that was basically mentioned here, but didn't go into just how devastating it was. That is how getting the carpet yanked from the first location when they already did so much work and were pretty much on their schedule to have everything completed by the opening really harmed them big time. In this version they mentioned losing the first place, then moving to the second, but it seemed like just one of those things that happens.... It wasn't.The first time I saw the longer version I was glad to find out so much more about what actually happened there. In fact in the longer version they spent more time on the commune who took charge of the food lines too. It's really amazing how they pulled off feeding so many kids there. In the end as they do mention there were so many ways things could have screwed everything up, but thanks to many miracle happenings and helping hands it all just worked out peacefully.

Excellent!

Its surprising this didn't come out until 2019. A lot of the interviews are from decades ago.

I liked hearing all the personal stories and peoples varying experiences.

The only thing I wish they included was more about the documentary movie and how it won awards, carried the legacy, and eventually helped the producers avoid financial ruin.
