Plot summary

A couples therapist uses the lessons she learned from past relationships with three exes: one with whom she can't deny the chemistry, one a sensitive artist, and one that's seemingly too perfect, to help a struggling couple. As she shares her past with them, all soon realize that true love requires not only being with the right person, but also searching your soul to find your best self.

Slow pacing ruined the movie...

Great, a movie that was written by, directed by and starring Ricky Burchell, yup one guy filling out all roles. And usually movies with that formula tend to be tedious and questionable affairs. Yet, I still opted to give "Dating My Past" a fair chance, on account of it being a movie that I had neither heard about nor actually seen before.The narrative in the movie wasn't exactly bad, but the movie's pacing made it quite a tedious affair to sit through. And the runtime of 99 minutes felt much, much longer that that, given the slow paced narrative.While I was not familiar with a single actress or actor on the cast list, I will say that the acting performances in "Dating My Past" were fair.This movie fell a bit short of entertaining me properly or thoroughly, but it was still a semi-watchable movie. Though, hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing.My rating of writer and director Ricky Burchell's 2025 movie "Dating My Past" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

[6.2] Cherry popped

A very enlightening movie about relationship, self-awareness, self-healing and "psychotherapy" in a lightweight fashion.
