Plot summary

Disgraced music star Reese is surprised to learn that he still has a fan in the form of delivery driver, Eva. The two form an unlikely friendship that begins to sour due to Eva's growing obsession and her struggles with PTSD.

Not particularly thrilling...

Needless to say that I had, of course, never even heard about this 2024 thriller from director Lakisha R. Lemons as I stumbled upon it by random chance here in 2025. However, I have to admit that as soon as I saw that ethereal horse running across the screen and the words Maverick Entertainment, then my expectations to the movie went from slim to none.Writer Jeremy George put together a fair enough script, especially in comparison to a lot of the rubbish that Maverick Entertainment has spewed out in the past. Sure, this wasn't exactly a stellar movie experience, but it was entertaining enough for what it was. Though, for a thriller, I have to say that the narrative was oddly devoid of anything thrilling or overly exciting.I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list, which was actually something that spoke in favor of the movie. The acting performances in the movie were fair.Something that was fair in the movie was the production value. A lot of previous movies from Maverick Entertainment were questionable in many aspects, but at least they upped their game quite a bit in production quality.Watchable, sure, but hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing. But definitely a step up for Maverick Entertainment.My rating of director Lakisha R. Lemons's 2024 movie "Deliveries from Eva" lands on a four out of ten stars.

Missed Opportunity

The writing and direction could've been better. The actors who played the roles of Reece and Detective Langston both did a great job and were hihjlights throughout the movie. Their performances are what kept me engaged throughout movie. Otherwise, I was tempted to stop watching the movie several times.I honestly believe that this movie also did a disservice to our military personnel, many of whom do come home traumatized to varied degrees based on their experiences while deployed. This was a missed opportunity to highlight this challenge within our community in particular and encourage us to over the stigma of mental disorders by seeking the professional and compassionate help that's available.
