I've been a film aficionado all my life. My mother was majorly into films and would take me to watch foreign films and art house films I the 60's since I could read;

I also like to see stand up comedy and it has been a great gateway discovering new (to me) talent via Streaming. Thanks to Netflix. Back in the day it was word of mouth.

What I find interesting are films that I rated a nine or 10 years ago are making their way back for me to watch again. Quite a few rewatches are better the second go around. But sadly, many are just unwarranted of my time. We as a society are not who we used to be. We've changed. Right?

When I began watching OK Mister and saw the preview I was hooked. But, within the first few minutes it was a no. I did go to 17 minutes just to see if he changed his tune. Nope.

Genre's like this are tripe. I find them misogynistic and demoralizing of women. Unfortunately, that was the norm back in the day with comedians and film. We didn't know any better.

Everything that came out of his mouth was demoralizing and degrading to women. 50% of the audience was women. I would've walked out. Sure, comedy gets personal. Comedy is truth. Blah, blah blah; should I stop being so serious? It's only jokes. .

OK Mister, this is no joke.

I've watched all of Deon Cole's stand-up specials on Netflix and love his comedy. However, this new one fell a little flat for me. There was way too much talk about him having sex with women. We get it Deon, heard it before. The repetitive vintage woman sex jokes after a while makes him seem personally insecure about his own stamina and age. Definitely made me go, hmmm? While he's undeniably a funny guy, his material in this special felt limited and stale. I hope that in the future, he branches out with more fresh and diverse content, because he has the talent to do so. All in all it might be worth the watch especially if you are new to watching his stand-ups!

He'll sprinkle in some thoughts about getting older and then it's back to banging. If you're into this topic, then you'll love this special. If you're sick of comedians talking about sex as a crutch for their lack of substance, then avoid this special like the plague. Deon is the male Amy Schumer; he has one gear: banging. Add him to the long list of comedians who's brain doesn't go beyond their body.
