Donald is tasked to take under his wing new recruit Serge Rivard, a hotheaded small-time crook who soon compromises him in a botched double murder. Orders, cigarettes, guns for ... - Fear, heart failure, death for ...

A well-made Canadian film, better watched with English subtitles, with convincing acting and above-average everything else. It is grim, it is sad and it is more or less "harrowingly" violent with lots of depressing clouds over.

Would have been better if it were made as a 4-5 parts mini-series with more developments, more background and more flashbacks-present time; then, it would have gathered another 1.5-2 ratings points.

A kind of Mesrine L'ennemi public n°1

Based on several events this is a wonderful entertaining Canadian/French movie 'bout hitman Donald Lavoie.

Once in a while i see a movie wich is that good, i have to write about it.

Take it from me, if you liked the true story about Mesrine Public Enemy nr1, you also like this one. It's a very bloody movie only the French can make. There were sometimes scenes wich were shocking. And it works for me. I've seen a lot of these kind of movies (I love true story movies about criminals from the 70's and 80's), and this one is also a very good one. Éric Bruneau plays Donald very good and Benoît Gouin looks almost perfect to be one of the brothers Dubois.

For me, this is a movie you can see twice or multiple times, not in a row but once a year. Why? Because it's a solide French/Canadian criminal policier with a great 'true' story.

It was 'incroyable'.

Nobody has a normal life...!!!

This film is inspired by the life of Donald Lavoie, another hitman who marked the history of crime in Quebec (Canada) at the end of the 1970s...since the media of the time made him a star...

Director Raymond St-Jean chose to keep simple by avoiding any glamorization of a man initially endowed with charisma, whose fall was as abrupt as his rise was rapid within the underworld of southwest Montreal... The filmmaker of course focuses on describing the murders in which Lavoie was involved - which he shows very dryly, without any commercial elements...

Éric Bruneau imposes himself in the role of Donald Lavoie by revealing both the implacable nature of a killer capable of coldly carrying out orders... The story also takes a new direction when Inspector Roger Burns (Sylvain Marcel, impeccable) arrives in the scene, who will make Lavoie an informant...

Director however inspite of gangster movie keeps the hope of family value intact...Though the plot urges that power, respect & money comes afterwards..."A family is a family" at the end of the day making "A man life is so easy to take away" while it's evident that nobody has a normal life...

The film deftly combines real-life stories with fictional elements, maintaining a balance that keeps viewers on their toes throughout its runtime. The tension is palpable, woven seamlessly with moments of profound drama that underscore the personal stakes involved...

Overall this is one cinematic experience you don't want to miss...
