Eastern (AKA Ruthless (2019))

If you enjoy Polish movies that are abstruse, purposely evasive, and bloody tedious, then this is a film for you. Thankfully it was short at one hour and fifteen minutes.

Apparently there is some ridiculous blood feud going on between two families. The young daughter of one of them kills some guy from another one of them. The scene is ridiculous, as the man is running extremely fast, and she is walking slowly. He is petrified. Of a little teenager? Okay. Then she "magically" appears before him and shoots him. Then the director drags us through the bureaucracy of the "killing", involving lawyers, doctors, and smoking cigarettes at the funeral, where both families are in attendance. Then the after effects, and how it exerts influence on both families. Except both of the families seem selfish and part of the upper middle class. So I personally didn't have an interest in any of them. That, and they were so tedious and lifeless.

There is a lot of cigarette smoking in the movie. Evidently, the writers thought that it would be exciting.

The last thirty minutes, the movie completely goes on a ludicrous tangent, and then the clichéd ending is added to that. Supposedly, the delivery driver that the woman hit with her rifle while trying to get the kid that the two feuding females kidnapped, to the hospital, shot her later in a parking lot. That was really believable.

A thoroughly dull and useless movie.

(2019) Eastern/ Ruthless (In Polish with English subtitles) THRILLER

This is another one of those movies where it made more sense to the makers who made it than the viewers who spent watching it. It is either that, or the English translators did not do a very good in translating it into English. Anyways, part of the synopsis above claims it is a dystopian movie, but yet there is zero indication of that at all. Co-written and directed by Piotr Adamski that has a woman hunter hunting another hunter and making it look like a suicide. We find out that it consists and is similar to the "Hatfields and the McCoys" scenario with two warring families who are at odds with one another between the "Nowak" family and the "Kowalska" family. And then later on in the movie, as soon as one Ewa Nowak (Maja Pankiewicz) drops her guard down she is then abducted at gun point, by Klara Kowalska (Paulina Krzyzanska) for the intention of using her as blackmail in exchange for money.

Besides not caring for the way the movie had ended, I was unable to find any plot either except to see many people babbling over nothing. Viewers neither understand nor are enlightened how this feud came about in the first place except that it is, and that the father (Marcin Czarnik) was paralyzed on one of their meetings.
