Harmless escapism

What was Max Pécas' intention when he made a film like this? Was he making fun of everyone or just having a laugh and getting paid for it?The storyline, what there is of it, is that a bunch of incompetent soldiers on a training exercise find a house in their forbidden military zone is occupied by a group of young women.Mostly the action consists of people tripping up, falling down, getting soaked, and so on.And of course a restricted military zone would be in the hills above Saint-Tropez, complete with pristine houses, parked cars, etc.But if you are expecting any attempt to be realistic, this is not the film for you. It's pure nonsensical camp, and it raises a few guffaws.It ticks many Pécas boxes - slapstick, scantily-clad young women, cross-dressing, Saint-Tropez (briefly), a house near Saint-Tropez. I'm just surprised that Daniel Derval didn't get a role.A movie like this just couldn't exist today but if you want a taste, it's much better to check out 'On se calme et on boit frais à Saint-Tropez', which had a bit more budget behind it and is worth watching for its vintage Saint-Tropez setting alone.
