A watchable and informative gossip piece

This brief TV special comes off as a biased and unbalanced view of the whole Blake Lively vs Justin Baldoni misconduct/harassment case during filming of "It Ends with Us" back in 2024. Those who followed the media/internet frenzy over the awaited film already have their minds formed about who's right and who's wrong, with equal support for both parts. If you missed the case, started out on December 2024 after Lively entering a lawsuit against the actor/director on countless accusations about things that happened on the set and he counter-sued with claims she was trying to micromanage his film, (the case developments will only finish in 2026), here's a manageable starting point.Beware that the special weighs more favorably towards the actress than the actor/director, despite the presences of entertaining insiders Perez Hilton and Kjersti Flaa, who followed the case extensively with many favorable posts and points about Baldoni. Their testimonies in this piece either were edited down to make them look neutral, or maybe now they're sensing that the man doesn't stand a chance in court (after one trial case dismissal against The New York Times). The main interest for viewers, knowing the case or not, relates with the information gathered and presented, showcasing the different sides and issues related with Hollywood, the film business, the making of a movie and how work relations and intimacy between co-stars, cast and crew, can be a delicate frail thing open to misinterpreations of acts and facts. One of the great things about the special, apart from the messages and audio exchanges, comes with the shooting of a scene from the movie - the one where they dance together - and how awkward their interaction becomes since they're both directing the moment, instructing on how to touch each other or not, what's comfortable and what's not, to which later on Lively says the man was making too much unnecessary improvisations on the intimate scenes. That key moment alone proves that both sides weren't willing to agree with a scene, but audiences can witness and form their own "judgment" about both.Despite its many problems, it was a somewhat enjoyable, almost harmless piece. Highly gripping and entertaining for all of those who enjoy a bit of gossip from Hollywood or curious minds.A few thoughts I share (but you can skip reading it) is that I learned that there's no such thing as a bad publicity when it comes to selling a movie, even though Hollywood says there is such a thing, and back in 2017 when metoo movement ended many careers of famous abusers and/or people with terrible working ethics, the entertaining system mostly followed with cancelling people (but deserved) and/or edit down some who appeared in upcoming projects. If it wasn't for the whole scandal I wouldn't even heard about or see "It Ends with Us", despite the special making a point that the film was deeply awaited by many people out there because of the book. To me, it was one of the biggest good surprises of last year. And I wouldn't know about Baldoni as well (had to check out from where I've seen him before, as the face was familiar). As for the case: for all the things it's said and somewhat proven that Justin did to Blake, I don't see much of a substantial case, or better saying a reasoning for it. What would a so-and-so name in the industry would gain by harassing a powerfully known entity in the business, especially one greatly married with countless connections as Ryan Reynolds? And knowing that the system changed a great deal in the past seven years, how come it all boiled down to audiences knowing something was wrong with Baldoni & Lively during the promos for the film, and her accusations simply came after the film wrapping? It's too weird of a case and it all ends next year, hopefully. 6/10.
