Complete and utter nonsense

Liam Neeson's output has been pretty bad lately. It's a shame, since he has the acting chops and great screen presence. He is aided here by Fan Bingbing who makes a welcome comeback to the screen. And while the two of them are good, they can't elevate the material. There are a few things to like about the film. The plot is minimal. Neeson travels to Nepal to scatter his brother's ashed on Mt Everest. On the busride there, a group of European mercenaries enter to kidnap a kid who's family refuses to sell an evil developer land. Fan Bingbing mentions that kidnappers in Nepal leave no witnesses: Liam Neeson springs into action and does his thing.Until that point, the movie is actually pretty entertaining. Neeson and Bingbing have chemistry, some of the urn jokes land, and the first action scene is pretty damn good, as is the plot twist afterwards. And then it all falls apart. The pacing grinds to a halt as the chase continues through CGI generated himalayas and the laws of physics and logic go straight out the window. The plot is so stupid, it needs a helmet. For one, nobody speaks the correct language in the film. Nepalese are portrayed by Indians speaking Hindi, Fan Bingbing seems to be wearing brownface to portray a Tibetan, the bus driver is an old Aussie surfer and the villains are a mix of East Europeans and a tiny French woman working for a pony tail wearing bollywood looking bad guy. It's hilariously bad.A rusty old bus somehow survives a broken axle (twice), crashing into a boulder and flipping on its side, and several other increasingly stupid action scenes.Plot holes abound. The villain controls the police, who could have easily stopped the bus and picked up the target as a criminal. But no, they had to send a European and an African mercenary to hijack the bus and kill everyone aboard... on the middle of a highway.Ice Road 2 never hides what it is. It's no brain low budget action. But if you don't mind that, you can do a lot worse. It's perfectly fine on a rainy afternoon or watching while you're doing chores.

Ridiculous

In an overall general way, Ice Road part 2 is entertaining, but it's also a ridiculous movie, with an awful script, horrible acting, and at times so bad it was funny. There is absolutely nothing in it that even slightly resembles reality. There is one sequence in the film that is so preposterous and seemed to signal that they decided to set the movie in fantasyland. Even the CGI is fake looking and on the level of something from the 1950s. Liam is doing his best and at 73 looks incredible. It's a shame he has to make films like this and while at times it is suspenseful it's also embarrassing. Worth a watch just to see how low movies have sunk.

A Wasted Opportunity on a Himalayan Canvas

This film had all the ingredients to be something remarkable, a gripping premise, the raw and treacherous beauty of Nepal's unforgiving roads, and the presence of Liam Neeson, whose performance rarely disappoints. And yet, what could've been a visually stunning and emotionally compelling survival thriller fell flat, entirely due to a poorly written story that disrespected both geography and authenticity.Instead of leveraging the naturally dangerous terrain of Nepal to drive a more grounded and believable plot, the filmmakers seemed more interested in rushing through implausible sequences. The most jarring offense? Presenting a CGI version of Everest that looked painfully out of place, especially when we know the real mountains are right there, majestic, harsh, and more cinematic than any computer-generated replica.Even worse, the portrayal of Nepali culture and language was laughable. Random gibberish passed off as "Nepali" only served to insult rather than represent. For those of us who know and love the country, this felt careless, even offensive. And let's address the elephant in the room: you simply cannot take a bus from Kathmandu and reach Everest in a few hours. The film treats this like a casual weekend trip. It's not just misleading; it's disrespectful to the very people whose land and struggle the movie pretends to showcase. The only reason I gave this movie 5 stars was because of Liam Neeson. Strip him away, and this wouldn't deserve more than a 2. A spectacular setting wasted on a lazy script and cheap execution.
