Dreams, Disillusion, and the Fire of a Generation

Aw, bold, and unflinchingly honest, In Youth We Trust captures the spirit of a generation caught between idealism and the harsh realities of society. This Thai drama follows a group of young people whose lives intersect as they pursue a sense of belonging, recognition, and escape from systemic pressures. The narrative explores friendship, ambition, and rebellion, focusing on how youth often navigate unstable ground between personal dreams and societal expectations. Rather than portraying them as reckless stereotypes, the film humanizes its characters, showing vulnerability beneath their defiance. The strength of In Youth We Trust lies in its authenticity. Performances from the young ensemble cast feel lived-in, their dialogues echoing the frustrations and aspirations of real-world Thai youth. The film's cinematography is striking, contrasting the neon-lit urban nights with quiet, melancholic daytime sequences, which mirror the duality of hope and despair. The soundtrack, filled with contemporary beats, adds energy while amplifying the raw emotions at play. While its pacing occasionally meanders and certain subplots remain underdeveloped, the film compensates with emotional depth and social relevance. Its critique of systemic inequality, generational conflict, and the fragile line between loyalty and betrayal gives it resonance beyond a simple coming-of-age tale.Ultimately, In Youth We Trust stands as a poignant reflection on how young people strive to find meaning in an unforgiving world.Rating: 8/10 - A compelling and socially resonant youth drama that blends style with substance, delivering both energy and empathy.

All Talk, No Impact -...- Trapped in a Narrative Loop

There's nothing engaging about this film at all. The script doesn't guide the narrative or communicate any clear message. It feels like we're just passively watching inmates go about their daily lives, without any emotional pull or depth. The main character is full of contradictions-crying like a child in one scene, trying to act soft and vulnerable, then suddenly flipping back to being aggressive and anti-social, like someone with a split personality. The supporting cast actually gave solid performances, but the script really let them down. None of the characters were developed enough to make us feel connected or hyped about their stories. I don't blame the actors-they clearly have talent-but like many Thai films, this one suffers from weak writing and storytelling. And the ending? It left me with nothing. Just a big "So what?" moment. I sat through the whole thing and came away with no takeaway, except for the obvious: prison is scary. But that's something everyone already knows. There was nothing new, nothing surprising, nothing that made me go "wow."
