Plot summary

Mild and meek accountant Sanford Lagelfost has been charged with embezzling $3 million dollars from Trout Industries. A decidedly mixed bag of jurors are chosen to serve on the case, including Eddie, a waiter; Rita, a high-priced call girl; Phil, a high-powered businessman; and Abby, a rabble rousing ex-hippie. When the star witness, the voluptuous Hope Hathaway, takes the stand, she startles everyone with her stories of Sanford's Lothario-esque conquests. Suddenly, the unassuming Sanford is a celebrity heartthrob and he finds himself in headlines and gossip columns across the country. Due to the case's growing notoriety, the judge sequesters the jury. And things start to get wild...

Has some moments

Okay, let's face it. Made for TV movie comedies don't sell, and a fully loaded cast cannot save this one. Jury Duty is one of those films that really has no direction. Still there is some funny moments in this film. Probably the best scene in the film has to come when Hope Hathaway (Tracey Scoggins) is called to the stand. Wind starts to blow threw her hair, a bad 80s song is playing, and the men in the jury box are drooling all over themselves. When the bailiff swears her in he is so mesmerized by her beauty. Then, He says "God help me" instead of "So help you God". I laughed a little bit at that. Another high point is Bronson Pinchot's parody of Geraldo Rivera. That's basically it. It was retitled as "The Great American Sex Scandal" when it hit syndication. Don't ask me why. Still, this one is a good time killer.
