Plot summary

When a group of women from Manhattan win a weekend getaway with wellness influencer Kali to picturesque Killington, VT, the creepy local vibes and characters take on a life of their own. Tensions spark among the longtime friends as Kali pushes their boundaries, and things take an unexpected turn.

Boring and pointless...

I needed no persuasion to watch the 2024 horror comedy "Killington", as I happened to stumble upon it by random chance here in 2025. Sure, I had never even heard about the movie, so I didn't know what I was in for.Writers Grace Day and Matt Vita put together a script and storyline that was fully and wholly devoid of horror elements. Heck, it was even devoid of proper entertainment elements as well, and it was a test of wills to sit through a mind-boggling 87 minutes of the pointless narrative. And you have to look long and hard to find a character in any movie that is as annoying and dislikeable as the character Kali was.I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list in the movie. The acting performances in the movie were fair, despite the fact that the script and storyline was utter rubbish."Killington" is not a movie that really used any special effects, so it couldn't harvest any much needed stars on that account.If you enjoy horror movies, do yourself a big favor and stay well clear of "Killington", because it was an insanely boring movie utterly devoid of anything even remotely horror. So take heed of the movie's low IMDb rating, it is with good cause that it has been scraping the bottom.My rating of directors Mark Dudzinski, Frank Perz and Matt Vita's 2024 horror comedy "Killington" lands on a two out of ten stars.

Not that bad

At the time of this writing, "Killington" is rated 2.8 with 119 votes and not a single review except one critic review who doesn't rate it or give his opinion. Now, had I known ahead of time it was a 2.8 I wouldn't have given it a chance. But I did, and I have to say while it wasn't that great, it also wasn't that bad, either. So I felt it deserved at least one explanation of opinion.I don't see the need to spend a lot of time on synopsizing since the description already explains it. But basically, four annoying, spoiled friends from college are spending a bridal party weekend with a pretentious online yoga guru who invited them. The horror trope of wishing death upon the protagonists is established very early. This is a horror movie so there is a killer, and it's pretty easy to figure out, so there's little suspense. The ending is...uh...Well I think I just said, "Huh?" out loud. Things don't start getting particularly interesting until the third act.HOWEVER, there are good points. The acting-with the exception of Sam Morales, who was rather the weak kink in the group-wasn't bad, and much better in the humorous parts. The music score was serviceable and unobtrusive, the photography mostly attractive, especially in the outdoor segments...although interiors seemed rather darkly lit. It does not look like a low budget film and makes the most of what they spent. It kept my interest throughout and in spite of its shortcomings really didn't deserve the rating it got. Sure it got the obligatory 10s by probable members of the crew and their families, but the majority gave the film a 1, and it's nowhere NEAR the Worst Film Ever.I think a 5 is fair-not great, not awful-in the middle. But 119 people picking a number and no one bothering to write why doesn't help anyone. So I hope this will encourage others to jump onboard as it can only help the filmmakers.

Pretty Bad

Typically, B/C horror films that lack a compelling storyline will make up for it with plenty of gratuitous violence. Unfortunately, this film does neither of these things well.The first on screen death doesn't occur until the last ten to fifteen minutes of the movie, leaving the first hour and change as unnecessarily drawn out garbage.If the filmmakers had thought to space the killings out, it would have added to a more whodunnit vibe which might have redeemed this film.As a fan of low budget horrors, this one didn't quite hit the mark for me but it did have some themes worthy of exploring.
