A bit on locomotives history

Geoffrey Jones' short documentary "Locomotion" takes us through the evolution of locomotives over the decades ever since its inception to the early years of the 20th century. It presents drawings of projects, stills and archive clips (the ones from WWI are amazing), along with the sound of engines mixed with instrumental music themes that are made to sound like locomotion motors.It's a somewhat interesting piece destined to grab the attention of history buffs, nostalgic hearts and minds, and fans of locomotives. But that's that, nothing more. No deep thoughts, no voice-over sharing the early days of trains and the technologies available - those can be viewed each decades goes by. Without the input and insights from a narrator or some historian this is merely visual exposition and those can get a little boring. It's manageable, nice to watch if you can endure the repetition from the music and motors running, there's little variation, but it completes the visual experience and it takes the viewer back to an old era with the boom of the industry revolution. 6/10.
