Love in the Rain

Action / Comedy / Drama / Romance
Plot summary
Is falling in love similar to rain? Rains falls without reason and also regardless of season. Anyway, falling rain always light up some emotion in people. Some feels lonely, some feels excited, some feels that it's normal for rain to fall.

A Drizzle of Charm, a Shower of Melodrama
That wasn't rain, it was tears of boredom...
I had the opportunity to sit down in 2022 to watch the 2013 Thai romantic comedy titled "Ruedoo thi chan ngao" (aka "Love in the Rain"). Now, I hadn't even heard about the movie prior to watching it, but of course with it being an Asian movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to give it a chance.
And let me just say that for a romantic comedy then "Ruedoo thi chan ngao" was a massive swing and a miss. I managed to drag myself through a bit more than half of the movie, but it was a struggle to sit through the ordeal for that long. And by then I just had enough of the sheer boredom of a pointless story and characters with the appeal of wet cardboard, so I gave up.
The storyline in "Ruedoo thi chan ngao" was boring and mundane. The narrative was insanely slow paced, and that made for a very difficult movie to sit through.
I am sure that the cast in the movie were putting on fair enough performances, but since they literally had nothing worthwhile to work with in terms of a properly written storyline and script, nor anything even remotely resembling interesting characters, then the actors and actresses were just fighting an already lost uphill battle.
Director Dan Worrawech Danuwong most certainly failed to deliver a wholesome or entertaining movie with "Ruedoo thi chan ngao". And I can in all honesty say that this is not a movie that I will ever be returning to finish watching. Nor is it a movie that I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on if you enjoy Asian romantic comedies.
My rating of "Ruedoo thi chan ngao" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.
