Broderick Crawford drives a bus on the Beersheba-Elath route. One evening, the bus breaks down and they are stuck until the morning. Despite their worries about being so near the border, they cheer each other up by telling stories of how they came to be in Israel and on the bus.
It's a rather elaborate film made for an annual appeal from the United Jewish Appeal. It has quite a cast for fans of old movies: J. Carroll Naish, Walter Brennan, Rosemary DeCamp, John Qualen.... even the Son of Lassie is seen in a flashback sequence.
Who knew these were all Jews. Well, they weren't. They wee there as part of the charitable appeals made in the movies regularly. Nowadays, only the Will Rogers Foundation's appeal seems to show u regularly.

There's No Shame In Being Helped
How to
No pun intended - obviously this short movie is here to tell us the stories of some people who went (or came) to Isreal. Their journey, their decisions and everything that there is to tell. Now I am not sure how interesting that is to you and it has to be a priority otherwise you will be just wasting your time. Spielberg apparently was the one that saved this from obscurity - or rather overall loss.
So thank him (or the opposite - no if you don't like it, don't be too negative about it, it's human lives we are talking about here) if this was something that you needed to watch and that you felt like gave you something. It is genuine ... and it is personal ... but I was not too impressed myself ... still decent especially because it is what it is.
