This was a ok finale but I prefer the last movie over this one. This movie didn't have great songs and didn't give its story to us in a great way. The jokes were pretty lame as well. When I heard this wasn't going to be a full musical like the last movie I was hoping that they would have brought back some of the great humor but found it pretty lacking. The scene in the church was probably the best comedy bit but there was a bit too much seriousness in most scenes. The fact Nathan never even got to say his tagline 'Brutal' was pretty disappointing in the least because there was Just sooo many times just that one word could have been uttered and it probably would have got a laugh out of me but no. They needed to keep everything semi-serious just not there comedy which they kept pretty basic... although there was a 'Plug' joke that got me.
The story on the other hand was alright, I liked how all the characters were used and the cameos. The entire series wasn't really strong in this category, in fact it was pretty much a major joke until it wasn't. That said the revenge story of the last movie was much better, but taking this story as serious as they did may have been a mistake. Oh well, at least 'The Fans' got what they wanted hopefully, it was a love letter to those that kept the show alive after all as its pretty apparent they read their fan-sites.

disappointing but conclusive story end
Tedious and exhausting
So this was a great show on Adult Swim for the better part of a decade, that was followed by a so-so musical special and then whatever this was supposed to be. I get that the musical portions of this movie are technically profound and such but this movie was just extremely boring. The whole movie and basically the whole series is a bunch of background characters talking in vagary. There is no humor and a significant amount of Nathan talking about a character that wasn't all that interesting in the series. It's like an hour of setup , following literally a whole series worth of setup for you guessed it a death metal song and some random stuff happening on screen. It's like when they write this show they have half an idea and instead of completing it they play a song and do the same thing again over and over. If you liked the series check it out, but don't expect any humor or entertainment, there is none to be found.
Music and Atmosphere are there, but the fun is mostly gone.
This is a very serious movie to end a very funny show.
Light-on-the-humor, and heavy on a typical plot ending to a series. It features some of the best animation effort in the series. Wasted on a mostly-jokeless cap to the series.
I know they needed to tie the series-off, but they could have made it sillier like the show. Instead it was a slog through emotional recuperation for Nathan.
Nathan, now a broken-hearted sob, from a love that never happened, (which was a passing joke), laments through more than half the movie searching for himself.
The rest of the band's presence is minimal, and Toki is reduced to a literal child-brain for the movie, taking away his agency and ability to contribute to the solution.
The movie was supposed to be about how the band stops the end of the world, which it mostly-does, but there's a divide. It's mostly about how Nathan is sad, and the band more-or-less relies on him for the entire world-saving part.
There might be a joke only every couple minutes, and it's quickly overshadowed by some other events.
I'm happy Adult Swim released 3 movies for us aging fans, and I see the effort, but I didn't feel affection towards this release.
I would recommend the last series cap, the rock-opera "A Doomstar Requiem" over this.
