Decent dystopia with a definite female audience

A very simple but decisive dystopia. It's got elements of The Handmaid's Tale and Brave New World for sure, plus a heavy dose of Communism (the real one, not what the Americans think it is). It's not unique in its ideas, but what modern dystopia is? They just rehash old ideas. This one is relevant for women and it and others to come will probably still be relevant for a very long time. Women will not achieve equality and safety and independence anytime soon, certainly not in my lifetime.So it is a story worth telling, showing, doing and it is done pretty well, minimally, but that is the concept, the whole point of this society, essentially a dictatorship that has probably run into serious trouble, hence the obsession with controlling resources, population replacement, rations, the drab prison-like clothing, the secure compound, fear-mongering, leader worship and the lot.The only thing that irked me was when Zinnia cried "God" twice. She would have no concept of (that) God in this society and she would not say it instinctually like this. There was severe information control, she couldn't have even been able to read about religion. These citizens have no use for religion, their religion is the teachings of Amma Kane and she would not call her "God". I found that a very jarring slip by the writer and everybody else involved in that scene.I was curious to find out more about this world, this society outside Children's Section 8 and beyond, but that would have complicated the story and may have made it messy. It's cleaner this way maybe, it could even be a play. The acting is essential in these movies and both the actors and set designers did a great job. Funny how rudimentary those computers were and how backwards everything looked. Once again it made me want to learn more about the history of this society, the science, teachings, climate, geography, leadership. Was the entire planet like this or some rogue country or was it a cult secluded somewhere? It doesn't matter, the very fact it made me curious is an indication they did a good job I think.

Dark movie that is well acted

A very dark movie that is well acted but points to grim future. Hopefully, we'll have a dynasty of the current administrations policies through the children of the current administrative branch of government to keep us advancing toward a a place in which human society, natural conditions are so ideally perfect that there will be complete contentment.

well acted but painful to watch

The cast do a good job with their lines.The story is reasonably well presented, the expositional components are a little clunky.But the story is just painful to watch. The motivations of the main character don't really make sense, and pulled me out of the movie into a comparison with similar anti-natal ideas pushed by leftists.So I stopped the movie about a third of the way in and gave up, as i wanted to be carried along by a story, not dropped into current political discourse by a clumsy movie, and the future seemed to hold only more grimdarkness.
