Plot summary

After losing his church and his family, Pastor Jacob Thorne returns to his roots; however, he soon realizes that returning home also means digging up some ugly truths and dealing with some dark revelations.

Terrible script

Pastor Thorne 2: Sins of the Father (2024) is currently streaming on Tubi, and honestly, it's just as bad-if not worse-than the first film. The sequel doubles down on every mistake the original made, delivering a story that's messy, incoherent, and completely unengaging. The plot jumps around without purpose, and there's no real character development to speak of, leaving the audience with nothing to connect to or care about.The writing is atrocious, filled with clunky dialogue and plot points that make no sense. Characters behave inconsistently, and the film constantly asks you to suspend disbelief beyond what's reasonable, which only amplifies the frustration. Any sense of tension or drama is immediately undercut by lazy storytelling, and the pacing is a disaster-it drags on endlessly in some scenes and rushes through critical moments in others.Direction is equally problematic. The camera choices feel amateurish, with excessive close-ups that are supposed to be "intense" but just feel claustrophobic and awkward. Moments that could have been visually engaging are ruined by bizarre framing and poor composition, making the entire movie feel cheap and unpolished.The acting does little to save this mess. The only characters who even attempt to convey emotion are the mother and the pastor's wife, but even they are dragged down by the weak script and awkwardly staged scenes. The rest of the cast delivers wooden, unconvincing performances that make it impossible to take anything seriously.And then there's the gore-or at least what's supposed to pass as it. The blood effects near the climax are laughable, looking like nothing more than corn syrup mixed with food coloring. It completely ruins any tension and further emphasizes how little care went into the production.Ultimately, Pastor Thorne 2: Sins of the Father is a catastrophic sequel. It fails in every department: writing, direction, acting, pacing, and even the most basic elements of filmmaking. It's not scary, it's not dramatic, and it's certainly not enjoyable. This is a film that should be avoided entirely, as it only serves as a reminder of how poorly executed low-budget horror can be.
