I wasn't really harboring much of any expectations to this 2011 Singaporean and Malaysian movie titled "Perfect Rivals", as I sat down to watch it here in 2023. I had never actually heard about the movie prior to watching it. And with it being an Asian movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to give the movie a fair chance.
And let me just say that I had been missing out on an entertaining and enjoyable movie from writers Yew Kwang Han and Soo Yun Ting. The storyline in "Perfect Rivals", despite of being somewhat simplistic, was actually very enjoyable and well-written.
The acting performances in the movie were good. I was only familiar with Yu Ha (playing Chen Hao) and Irene Ang (playing Mei Mei) on the cast list, but the actors and actresses all put in good performances to bring their characters and story to life on the screen. I was especially impressed with the performance from Irene Ang in this movie.
Director Yew Kwang Han delivered a good movie here, and if you get the chance to watch it, you definitely should do so. I was genuinely entertained by this 2011 movie.
My rating of "Perfect Rivals" lands on a six out of ten stars.
