Plot summary

When a thirty-something travel nurse meets a friendly mortician at a Guns 'N Roses concert, she thinks she's finally found her match -- until he ghosts her the next day. Overwhelmed, she turns to her four gay best friends for support as she confronts hard truths and figures out her next move.

Four Queens and an Ace - Pig Hag

This is a story of a woman who likes to party with four gay men and attend lots of rock concerts while high. During the week, she is a nurse. Her name is Jodie, and she has a weight problem. Not quite as bad as The Whale, but almost as bad.Her weight problem causes her to have low self-esteem and to behave in self-destructive ways. Although her four gay friends are supportive, she continues to fall into the same habits that have caused her so much disress.She meets a man while crying on the curb late at night, and they begin a romance of sorts. He is divorced and a father of two. The story goes on to show that Jodie is not capable of maintaining a new relationship because of her overanxious behavior toward being liked, regardless of what she has to do, in order to be liked. It is a sad tale that explores the personal relationships of a drastically overweight person as opposed to the battle against food that is the central theme in The Whale. Both people are pretty much in the same boat.

This could have been good

The only way this movie could have been good was if the guy who was harassing her online turned out to be the same guy who ghosted her after the one night stand, allowing the protagonist & the viewer a realistic & valuable insight into how people really operate. Instead we got a 90 minute whine-fest about how the world just doesn't love insecure, unstable, overweight women enough. I puked a little.
