Believe me when I tell you I wanted to like this movie so bad... because the star Maddy was so sweet and adorable I told myself I was willing to put up with typical Lifetime dumbness. But sadly Lifetime betrayed me so horribly.
Star Maddy who a police detective at one point said "Be careful. You're SMART". Boy was she wrong.
Maddy is burglarized by an intruder. She literally lept on his back in her underwear and got violently thrown around. So afterwards she calls a MAN she JUST MET a couple days ago for comfort... "because she didn't know who else to call"....wait what? Do you not have any other family or friends on the planet that you've known for at least more than 2 days??
Then after this major burglary violation I guess she was able to let down her boundaries and sleep with this same stranger guy the very next morning... wait what?
Then when her friend tells her "omg stay away from that art broker guy because he's involved with super shady and probably illegal things" she marches directly into his office to "demand" a confession.
She gets taken to the police station where they tell her the guy she slept with doesn't have an alibi for a murder and is a suspect but she immediately runs back to this guy and tells him she's willing to go on sudden Mediterranean cruise with him. What?
And even though she's going around town called everybody out she still goes ahead and blabs all her suspicions to literally every cast member of the movie!
When she enlists the help of the black security guard who put his whole livelihood and family on the line to help this girl. I was so upset that he got shot (in the chest btw) when things go sideways...
In the end she ends up with the shady guy she just met who she apparently wants to spend the rest of her life with after literally about 2 dates...
I guess we can just forget that she fled a murder scene (literally with blood on her hands) and broke into an art gallery despite the fact it would take weeks maybe months to figure out which shooter (her boss or Coleman) actually killed all the murdered people.
Plot summary
Madison Byrne is a beautiful young art expert who tries to help Jack Singer, a wealthy patron of her museum, unlock the mystery of an antique ring. This ring may or may not have belonged to his family before being lost in WWII. As she inches closer to the truth, the danger grows and Madison begins to suspect that Jack may not be as innocent as he appears. Could he be a murderer, bent on revenge or is someone else killing to keep a more sinister secret?

I wanted to like this movie soo bad...
A poor effort, even by TV movie standards
It's been hard to think of anything good to write about Ring of Deceit and perhaps that only positive thing I could take from the movie was that Rebecca Mader's prettiness brightened the whole movie. That's about it...
The plot, about the mystery of the ownership of an antique ring, causes mayhem and murder is nothing original but had the screenplay been worked with a more accomplished mind could have made it more interesting. Instead viewers are treated to sub standard fare and clichéd actions.
The acting was quite terrible from everyone involved. Rebecca may look pretty but she is far from accomplished in acting and it showed on screen because rather than watching the screen character come to life you could see the actor attempting to act. I think the worst was when she got punched in the stomach in one scene and she was trying to cry out in pain but ended up grinning and laughing.
So, for a TV movie this has to be one of the worst I've seen. Watching a snail make it's way across a concrete slab of the sidewalk is more entertaining. And thought provoking.
