This movie may not win any awards, but it is a solidly put together.
The story is interesting and different from the usual kind of 'narco' or 'cartel' type movie.
The acting by all of the cast is superb, with strong believable characters, and the production is good.
This isn't a kind of action everyone goes nuts kind of film - which is a good thing for this story.
Worth watching.

Quite good
I Can't Wake Them Up
No one in the film has a name. They are known by their occupation. Nicolas Cage is "The Cook." He makes pizza and by the looks of his house, very good and expensive pizzas in Seattle/Tacoma?. He works for "The Boss" (Barry Pepper) who pays for cocaine to be delivered to him in Vancouver. The boss is upset because someone is dipping into the product and someone else is also cutting it. Cage has to follow the shipment to see what is happening. Leslie Bibb is the "Agent in Charge" of the Seattle DEA branch. Her sister died from the cut product and she wants justice. She has her own black ops hideaway in town for interrogations. She doesn't play by the rules. Laurence Fishburne is "The Man." He is introduced in a chicken choking episode at the local peep show. He is the one cutting the drugs. He has an addiction.
The film is the DEA playing cat and mouse with the drug dealers while the drug dealers are trying to find out who is nickel-diming them. Decent film. It needed a good soundtrack and more of a grindhouse feel. Still time to add a soundtrack with swagger. Like maybe Van Halen?
Guide: F-word. Brief sex and nudity
Compared to the majority of Cage's output, it's a masterpiece
RUNNING WITH THE DEVIL isn't exactly a great Nicolas Cage movie, but compared to the other stuff he's been putting out this last year, it looks like a masterpiece. Cage is one of a number of familiar cast members in a small scale thriller about a drug lord tasking our hero with discovering which person in the supply chain has been stealing his product. It's all a little too dark and dour for its own good, but it does manage to approach the gravitas of the SICARIO films and the cast, including Barry Pepper and Cole Hauser, is great. Cage doesn't feature too much, or indeed impress too much, but a typically world weary Laurence Fishburne is fine.
