This film has some excellent footage and photos from the early 20th century and it's also a good historical examination. What ruins it, for me is the constant cutaways from the historical imagery to the two historians who narrate the whole thing. I really don't need to keep seeing these two rather ugly guys doing their voiceovers.Narration of a documentary does not require footage of the narrators, and the inclusion of the narrators in the visuals is a distraction. It breaks up the flow of the two, sometimes competing narratives, and takes the viewer out of the absorbing stories being told.What could have been a 9 star rating from me becomes a 7.
