Plot summary

Foul-mouthed mother-from-hell Karen Matthews is fed up being a nobody, until she hatches a cunning plan for a shot at the big time. Henpecked common-law husband Craig Meehan has an unhealthy obsession with his laptop. Simple-minded uncle Michael Donovan just wants to fill the void left by his two daughters getting taken into care. Stereotypical Yorkshire copper D.I. Radgitt faces a race against time to unravel the web of lies and find the missing girl, little Shannon Matthews, aged 9.

Comedy at it's best!

Went to the Leeds premiere and was so impressed. It was so hilarious I was choking and laughing so much I couldn't breathe.In reality it is one of the bravest movies ever made. Tackling a tricky subject by only making fun of the culprits. Not the victim Shannon aged 9! Very clever on doing this for one of the strangest crimes ever committed.The songs are so funny and catchy and the cast on such a small budget excelled better than the overpaid luvvies. DC Radgitt and Karen deserve Oscars! Some really nice shots of Yorkshire beaches too on such a small budget.Everyone with a sense of humour should see this as soon as possible. Definitely deserves a mainstream release ASAP! Needs a health warning though to warn of choking after uncontrollable bouts of laughter throughout.

Independent Musical Movie Magic

If you've already heard the musical album by KATG, or seen the musical live already, you may wonder, why was a movie version needed? As it turns out, the movie format lends itself superbly for expanding not just the story, but the jokes too. Obviously, the movie follows a rather sensitive subject, but the focus is always the extraordinary lengths Karen Matthews would go to for infamy and cash, unaware she'd surrounded herself with the least useful fiends imaginable.The subtle and not so subtle references for KATG fans a will entertain most people who watch the film after hearing/seeing the musical. For everyone else, there's always a danger it may be too crude but to make a film that was less blunt or ridiculous would have defeated the whole purpose of making it.

Wrong but right

Fan of the dark, smutty and controversial here. If you are, you'll love this. Being a fan of Kunt & The Gang as well as The Kunts I've always been keen to see what they do next and unfortunately couldn't get a ticket to the stage show musical of this album so when the film was announced I was happy and patient and it finally came (no pun intended, or was there?). And whilst there's protestors moaning about this without better things to do, the musical doesn't criticise poor Shannon in any way and I truly hope she's safe and well these days (name change and fostering with support has hopefully protected her) but it really does with her disgusting mother and family and doesn't hold back. If it wasn't true it would actually be shocking but it's all true and is there to be poked fun of hugely! Better to laugh at these things than be shocked I feel. Just like Brass Eye's peadophile episode of course before this. And controversial comedians like Jerry Sadowitz (recently cancelled from Edinburgh bizarrely) and Doug Stanhope and Bill Hicks and Frankie Boyle. It's important to laugh.And the fact this was low budget, crowd funded too with some slightly bad acting and effects in some places too doesn't deter. If you're a fan you'll love it anyway. If you're new, welcome. If you're just here as you're intrigued I hope you enjoy as much as the wrong uns here all have, we are certain types of people after all. ;)
