It's Terrible, but Enjoyable if You're in the Right Mood

The other reviewers are correct, it's bad. But for people, like me, who enjoy certain kinds of bad movies, it's a gold mine.

After the first shark attack scene, it goes on tediously for a bit, and I almost gave up on it. There is a lot of pointless dialogue, over explaining of things, etc... but if you can stay with it, it's got a lot of laugh out loud moments.

There is a non-sensical plot, TERRIBLE acting, writing and dialogue, laughable accents, baffling and unrealistic actions, attempts at touching & sentimental scenes for characters the audience cares nothing about, amateurish CGI, etc...

It's a real hoot if you're in to the that sort of thing. If you're wanting an actual "good" shark attack film, you should definitely avoid though.

Every Example of How NOT to Make a Movie!

Oh. My. Gosh. This has to have been the worst movie I've ever seen. And I once saw a movie where piranhas were jumping out of the river and eating helicopters. I once saw a movie where ghost sharks were coming out of office water coolers and eating people. Yeah... it's worse than those combined.

The "special effects" - the sharks, the blood in the water... everything - are completely cgi. Not the good chi, either. I'm talking 1980's Commodore C64 graphics cgi. Utterly terrible.

The story arc is beyond disbelief. At the start of the five hour cruise, the first mate hands the captain the radio. I don't mean portable handheld ham radio. I mean 1970's CB radio. The kind you mount in a bracket in a car. With the power leads dangling and no antenna. Not sure why that wasn't already mounted and wired into the ship, but... ok.

Then, when the sharks attack, how does a shark get "caught up in the propeller" of an inboard motor? To the point that it stalls the engine? OK... whatever. So what would you do? Me? I'd use the radio (that one would hope is hooked up by this point) to call for help. Nope. Not once does anyone ever do that. Although, at one point halfway through the attack, the captain does claim that the "signal is spotty." Yeah... whatever. OK, fine... you can't use a marine radio to call for help five miles from shore. Sure. So use a cellphone. Nah.. the first mate didn't bring his (is there anyone alive who doesn't have their phone glued to their hand?) and I guess the captain doesn't own one? The girl has one... but it doesn't get signal. Until later in the movie when it does. Oh, but it has a low battery. So while she's talking to her dad (remember on a phone with a low battery that could die at any time) she d...r...a...g...s out their situation as slowly as humanly possible. Then (remember earlier the cellphone didn't have signal) she takes the cellphone inside the cabin below the deck. Because it's a well known fact that that you get a much better signal inside surrounded by metal than standing out in the open air. :eye_roll:

So help is on the way. Kinda. They have a chopper in the air, but the radio guy (who knows the exact co-ordinates because the girl give them to her dad (no clue where she pulled those from, but ... ok)).. the radio guy tells the helicopter pilot once he sees them, he'll give him the location. Let that sink in. "Once you see them, I'll tell you where they are." Sure....

In the meantime, dad can't wait on the Coast Guard to do what Coast Guards do... so he phones up his friend who wrangles up a boat for them to go rescue the survivors. Yeah... the "boat" that they take out for a five mile jaunt out into the ocean is... an inflatable raft with an outboard engine. Totally realistic. Oh... but it gets even better.

Because by this point the fishing boat has beached itself on a sand bar because it was taking on water (that for some reason was rushing across the deck at one point, despite the fact that the deck was still feet above the water line... and despite the fact that the water only covered the deck at one point in the movie and never again). So they use this little life raft with an outboard motor to pull this big ace fishing boat off the sand bar. Yeah... if you're still watching at this point, you're just going to accept whatever bull thew throw your way.

There are so many thing wrong with this that I cannot possibly even begin to mention them all. Just trust you. This is not t he movie that you are looking for.

Frustratingly boring

Bad acting.....bad cgi......bad script.....I was sick of the captain narrating everything that was happening.... I was hoping he would die as his acting was soooo bad...all the characters sound like they are reading from cue cards.....only 6 people get killed.....80 mins of wasted time and money making it I wish someone would make a superior shark movie..maybe a remake of JAWS with superior CGI would be better?

With all todays technology these cheap crappy films should not be made Dont know why I bother with these B movies ...guess I am a glutton for punishment and dont learn lessons from the past.
