Plot summary

Rose spends her days fishing near the beautiful lake house she’s called home for 50 years. She’s not getting any younger and her daughter Patti worries about Rose being all alone, but the stubborn matriarch will not sell. There are memories here that she doesn’t want to leave. These come flooding back one weekend during a visit from Patti and granddaughter Allison, when a long-forgotten roll of film reminds Rose of the summer she met and fell in love with the bold and beautiful Louise.

good conflicts good emotions

Patty (Brooke Adams) and her daughter Allison (Emily Baldoni) are visiting her mother Rose (Piper Laurie). They have brought some long-forgotten photos from '64 in Rose's old camera. Flashbacks reveal a younger Rose (Shannon Collis) and Louise (Emily Goss) forming a friendship and more over many years.The first half is a bit slow. The movie seems to be going with an old lesbian fling. That may be interesting in the previous century, but it is standard operating procedure nowadays. By itself, this would be a boring story. Patty's views really add some good conflicts and deliver good emotions.

My Life on the Screen

Having just celebrated Pride month, I watched many LGBTQ films. Snapshots is absolutely the best of them all. Louise taught Rose to be bold. We could all learn a lesson from her. Grandma Rose is who I want to be at 85. Piper Laurie is amazing. The story is gently told. I loved it.
