Legit Saturday B-Horror

So it's Saturday night and I'm recommended this movie. I begin watching and am pleasantly surprised! We all know there're some stinkers out there, but this had something for everyone. Let's begin:Ok, the storyline has been done before (with some minor tweaks), but that's ok because it reminded me a bit of Big Ass Spider-where the bumbling oaf has to rise up and save the day. I did like the comedy from the janitor, and the sorority girls had some quick quips that also delivered humor. If you're looking for over the top comedy, this isn't it. These lines are delivered subtly backed by the situational irony which made it clever. The effects were mainly practical which definitely caught my eye. Nowadays there is much digital effects, which might look decent on a big budget, but on a low budget, isn't worth it. Yes, there were a few digital effects thrown in (smoke, water spray, etc), but nothing that took away from the gore effects. C'mon this is a horror movie - it needs some good gore. With hearts being pulled out, face skin being ripped off, and bodies torn in half, the effects team put it together nicely. The acting was also done well. Remember, this is called Sorority of the Damned, so you should know what you're getting into when you hit that play button. But with that, this wasn't one that sounded like everyone was reading from cue cards. You could tell everyone knew their lines and delivered them backed with the appropriate emotion. The character of Jenny did a very nice job as a main character. The janitor (who also co-wrote it) also has good delivery. Let's not forget the legend, Felissa Rose (of Sleepaway Camp) is in this as well. All in all it was a very entertaining Saturday night B-Horror movie with all the proper ingredients to make it tasty. Will there be things you won't like about it?...maybe.But will there be things you WILL like about it?...most definitely!

A swing and a miss...

I had the chance to watch the 2025 movie "Sorority of the Damned" and opted to do so, since it was a movie that I had neither seen nor actually ever heard about.Writers Joe Davison and Jeremy Lester put together a script that was supposed to be a horror comedy, but it was fully and wholly devoid of funny elements, and I wasn't brought to laughter even once. And the storyline itself was somewhat dull and sluggish.Of the entire cast ensemble in the movie, I was only familiar with Felissa Rose. The acting performances in the movie were okay, but nothing outstanding or memorable. The effects in the movie were fair, but nothing outstanding.Hardly a movie that I would recommend you to spend 82 minutes on watching. Nor is it a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time.My rating of directors Joe Davison and Roy Knyrim's 2025 movie "Sorority of the Damned" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

rock-solid "5"

At first glance, the rating of "5" might seem a little on the low side, but rest assured that was not just any 5, that was a rock-solid 5. A perfect 5. If any IMDb members had ever harbored a secret wish to see a 1960s-style low-budget slasher flick, with extra helpings of nudity, and a self-conscious serio-comic vibe, then this is your lucky day. It is campy -- a word possibly lost on younger viewers, but still appropriate decades later. Writer/director/actor (!!) Joe Davison is sort of the Ron Jeremy of this unusual genre of film -- he likes to insert himself in as many scenes as possible. The real and true horror is that many currently streaming movies, at 50X the budget, are actually worse. ((Designated "IMDb Top Reviewer."
