Entertaining Yet Flawed Comedy

Splitsville is worth watching. It's absurd but has some very funny moments. The first two acts hook you in, but the third act loses steam and drags on, making you wait for the movie to end. The characters and relationships start off cute but become overstuffed and bloated, causing a loss of interest as the story progresses.Despite this, it's still a strong comedy. Kyle Marvin and Michael Angelo Covino deliver good performances, and Dakota Johnson's presence is notable. Don't take it too seriously, and you might have fun with it.

Lovers and Marriage and More Lovers

This is going to seem odd on my part as I did not find this comedy all that funny. Not to say it doesn't have funny moments. There are plenty, I just didn't laugh at much as the people I sat in the movie theater with. Why is that odd? Because I still very much enjoyed the film. It's highly entertaining and every one in it gives it there all but a laugh riot this wasn't. At least to me.Having said that, on the scale of straight people and our confused, unhappy sex lives movies this is way, way better than Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice or Threesome but not as funny as Poor Things or Chasing Amy, if that helps at all. And if it doesn't, well, just see it, it's good. You could do worse. You probably already have.

Manchild, fights, open relationships, and comedic goals

A story about open relationships, man child characters, and hilarious annoying dynamics in romances sounds like it could be a bad cheesy dumb story, however, director Michael Angelo Covino succeeds with making these characters engaging and hilarious without making it feel stale, annoying or all over the place.Filled with great comedic atmospheres, dialogue between the characters, and camerawork, Covino understands the absurd nature about the dynamics of open relationships and man-child people. Crafting an interesting and hilarious fun screwball-like comedy. Many of the characters are portrayed as annoying, quite unlikeable, and ridiculous, but what makes it work is because of Covino's direction and how the movie understands the self-awareness of how ridiculous and hilarious the setting and characters are. Which is why the characters worked as their chemistry and dynamics are great. The performances from Kyle Marvin and Covino were both great, alongside with Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona. The production designs are great and the movie never loses its steam and energy, which makes the pacing great. However, there were some strange sound designs in certain aspects which made the movie feel a little distracting at certain moments.Overall, this is one of the funniest movies I have seen this year.
