Moliere lives !

While seeing this movie, one can only dream about seeing it as a boulevard stage production, as it was intended. Okay, those popular stage plays often goes for crudeness more than humour, but this one is very clever and has Molière-esque standarts, up to the servant's character very much in France's Great Man (The other Great Man - the first one in my opinion - being Shakespeare) tradition. Great fun, great characters, great plot twists, what more can you expect ? This is the original. Tr

Delightful French comedy from the 60s

Very enjoyable comedy with the brilliant de Funes at the top of his career supported by a very competent cast and excellent direction. The scipt is deceivably simple with slapstick and situation comedy and so on, but has deeper cultural roots in Fench- European theater tradition. I laughed a lot.
