Plot summary

Cliched Corny Nonsense

Daniel Stison unbelievably isn't the weather vane for quality in this film, he's terrible as always, its Eric Roberts. When you see his name in the cast list...run. I can't remember anything he's been in that's been decent.Back to the film, you could spend all day bemoaning some of the ridiculous decision making when it comes to the action scenes but, compared to Last Man Down, they're more polished.Stison has to get his top off at the end, i'm surprised it took so long, Peter Stormare is at that stage of his career where he's happy to wade in feces, ham it up and pocket the money.All in this is Stison's best effort, which doesn't say a lot if you consider his previous output, but i do detect a very slight increase in quality from the diminutive beefcake.

Bland and generic action thriller...

I was not familiar with this 2025 action thriller from director Fansu Njie prior to sitting down to watch it. So all I knew about it was the little information revealed by the synopsis.Writers Craig Walser and Sergey Zhelezko put together a straight forward script and storyline, though it suffered from being predictable and sort of generic.There were a couple of familiar faces on the cast list, with the likes of Peter Stormare, Eric Roberts and Beau Fowler. The acting performances in the movie were for the most parts fair, though I personally don't think that leading actor Daniel Stisen was particularly well-cast for the movie. It was a bit of a struggle to sit through his mumbled whispery delivery of his dialogue. Eric Roberts, well he was just being Eric Roberts. And while Peter Stormare usually puts on great and memorable performances in the movies he is in, he seemed to be tired and running on auto-pilot here.Something that did speak in favor of the movie was the action sequences, as they were actually nicely choreographed.There are far better action thrillers out there, and "Stand Your Ground" is not a movie that warrants more than a single viewing. Nor is it really a movie that I would recommend you to spend 99 minutes on watching.My rating of director Fansu Njie's 2025 movie "Stand Your Ground" lands on a rather generous four out of ten stars.
