Plot summary

Young Eva makes her decision to stay in Madrid for the month of August an act of faith. She needs to feel things differently and think of summer as a time of opportunity. On days of festivities and verbenas, while events and encounters take place, Eva will discover that she still has time, that an opportunity can still be given.

Summer in Madrid

I have been in Madrid in the summer and can't appreciate how the stifling heat adds to the general feeling of malaise that the main character displays. Because I love the capital so much, I was predisposed to like this movie. While I did enjoy seeing aspects of life in Madrid-visits to museums, parks, and bars- I thought the main character was not fleshed out enough to make for a compelling story.

Eva, a virgin

Eva is in her thirties and she spends the summer in Madrid where she meets friends but also people along ner sort of pilgrimage in the city. She hesitates unable to make decisions and in the end she will feel pregnant whithout having made love. The atmosphere is pleasant and so is Eva.
