Heh... 'Insanely Uneventful'... Great title by another reviewer here, and perfect for this, uh... Movie...

Bummer... I was rather looking forward to this one, but all I can say is that it is not put together very well and as suggested by the other reviewer's rather incisive title, VERY uninteresting and uneventful.

The acting is below average, there is absolutely NO tension in the movie. Towards the beginning are the cliched obligatory scenes showing her as a little girl and her father together playing games and such. Totally plastic, totally artificial.

And, this is one of the cases where I REALLY don't care whatsoever about what the theme or main plot is. It is SO bloody uninteresting and absolutely NOT compelling or involving in any way, that quite honestly, you just don't care.

Seriously...

So, the content of my review has about as much substance as the movie does, so that should tell you something... : )

At least in many other cases where the movie isn't made very well or the acting isn't that great, at LEAST there may be an intriguing premise or idea behind it. Here, it just simply doesn't matter...

I'm giving it a VERY generous '4' because the look and photography were kind of nice. But, honestly... that is about it...

I don't say this often in reviews, as a matter of fact I generally don't go to the trouble to leave negative reviews. But, since I had more expectations for this film and others might too, I just wanted to say...

Don't waste your time...

Ghosting

No pun intended - also not what you may think it is ... well unless you think it is exactly what it is ... this being a horror movie, you may guess right I reckon. That aside, the question is: how much of a horror movie fan you are? Because that will determine how much fun you'll have, how much slack you will cut and how far your suspension of disbelief goes.

The acting is ok I guess, but nothing that will make you too excited either. The story or rather the scares are quite predictable. Nothing major ... breaks through here - well apart from that one thing ... well even that does not entirely - but that is a different story and another pun added.

The Creeping

Due to a traumatic childhood experience - look, I feel like I say this every time in the way of giving advice to horror movie characters and I feel like a broken record, but please please please never ever forever go back home again and set things straight - Anna (Riann Steele) hasn't been back home in years. She makes the next cardinal modern horror mistake: she takes care of her dementia-suffering grandmother Lucy (Jane Lowe) - The Taking of Deborah Logan has been such a big influence in the near-decade since it was released - but soon realizes that a dark family secret remains and that only her murky childhood memories may hold the key to surviving.

The first full-length movie from director Jamie Hooper after a series of shorts, this movie was written by first-time screenwriter Helen Miles. Even from the start of the story, the old English cottage is quite a foreboding place, as we see a young Anna go from being read a ghost story by her father to being chased under the covers by something she can't see but has it to be real.

Unlike so many modern ghost stories that descend into herky jerky motions and dark whispered dialogue alternating with strobing light to show us hauntings, The Creeping settles for what has always worked, appearing closer to a traditional and classic ghost story than what we've had to take in modern films. It's quite welcome.
