Quirky, sometimes moving comedy-drama focuses upon two estranged adult siblings who travel to Poland (although filmed in Romania) to trace a beloved pet which once belonged to their now elderly and ailing grandmother.
Fogler and Nyback make a likeable pair who manage to put aside trivial sibling rivalry long enough to reconcile their relationship, and restore a long-buried memory from their family's past. There's an ensemble of eccentric characters with whom they come into contact, ranging from the surly, mute chauffeur (Doroftei) to a pair of local mafia-esque crooks, and an overly-stimulated vamp (Murarus) eager to get her hooks into a western society male.
Might be ten minutes overlong, the somewhat convoluted plot does occasionally drag with the weight of so many quirky characters and their sometimes sordid backstories to tell, but technically it's well made and the acting is fluid despite some extremely frigid looking conditions in which the action takes place. Original and worth watching.

Plot summary
This is a remarkable Canadian black comedy that leans towards the themes of the international and the familial. Sarah and Aaron are related, but their live paths have diverged a long time ago. While still solving their personal problems, they have to work together to fulfill the last wish of their Jewish grandmother, who got into a concentration camp aged 15 and has miraculously survived the Holocaust. They have to somehow find the remains of her favorite childhood pet – a dog that could dance on her hind legs, but is long dead and is buried somewhere in Poland. This is a well-formed film that refuses to employ sentimentality just for show.

Reunited for the last time
How to offend a nation?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a nationalist, not even a patriot, I would never die just for my country. I left Poland over 15 years ago and never really missed it. I know how faulty my homeland is and how silly and irrational people can be. And yet, I felt offended while watching this movie. Why did they choose to show completely false picture of modern Poland and build all the humour on top of it? I have no idea. And for the biggest joke go to Google Maps and check how real rail station looks like in Dabrowa, not Dombrova.- although pronunciation is very similar. 3 stars for main actors, who weren't too bad.
Terrible. Deceptive realities.
Complete ignorance of the creators. No basic knowledge of the country in which the plot is taking place. After such films, Americans think that this is what Poland looks like and the film was not even shot in Poland.
