A horror genre combined with thriller-action and gore.

The film feels like Lara Croft battling a horde of supernatural creatures or demons that resemble zombies. From the start, numerous questions arise, and it's only in the final third of the film that some of these get answered, by which point my energy had already been drained from enduring the blood, fights, and unsettling worms.However, I'm sure that for those who enjoy action-packed fight scenes and thrilling moments, much like in Hollywood action films that aren't too concerned with logical storylines, Pemukiman Setan offers a fun and entertaining experience. Personally, I've come to realize that I'm growing tired of the same type of Indonesian horror films-perhaps ever since Pengabdi Setan (2017) and Sebelum Iblis Menjemput (2018) were released, the genre has become increasingly repetitive. This similarity is apparent not only in the concept of the posters but also in the recurring themes and elements that appear on screen.I find myself asking one question: how many Indonesian horror films released since 2018 have a title font that isn't blood-red with a dark background? And how many films manage to make the audience feel genuinely paranoid after leaving the theater, much like the unsettling moments with the mother and the bell, or when she suddenly appears behind a window or in her prayer attire?Of course, a horror film isn't complete without jump scares, and Pemukiman Setan does have its share. These moments are particularly effective thanks to the thunderous score, which amplifies the tension and gives the audience a real jolt. While the film doesn't overdo the jump scares, focusing more on the action, the few that are present work quite well.The film also brings horror to life through impressive gore-filled makeup effects. One example is the "ghost" from Alin's past, whose disfigured face with a dangling eye is enough to make anyone squirm. The technical aspects of the film play a significant role in creating its eerie atmosphere, helping to elevate the overall sense of dread.In conclusion, while Pemukiman Setan might satisfy fans of high-energy horror-action films, it also highlights the growing trend of formulaic Indonesian horror that's been prevalent in recent years. While it delivers some solid thrills, particularly in terms of action and makeup effects, it struggles to stand out or offer anything truly unique in a genre that has become increasingly predictable.

Pemukiman Setan" - A Chilling Journey into the Supernatural and Human Fear

"Pemukiman Setan" (Demon Settlement) is a horror film that attempts to blend supernatural horror with psychological tension. The story follows a group of people who move into a seemingly abandoned village, only to discover that it's haunted by dark forces. As the characters unravel the disturbing history of the village, they confront their own fears and insecurities.The film succeeds in creating a tense, eerie atmosphere, with strong visual effects and creepy set designs that contribute to the horror. However, the plot can feel predictable at times, relying on familiar horror tropes rather than delivering truly original scares. The pacing also falters in certain moments, slowing down the suspense.Performances are adequate, but the characters lack depth, which makes it harder for viewers to connect with them emotionally. Despite its flaws, "Pemukiman Setan" has its moments of suspense and is decent for fans of traditional horror who enjoy the supernatural genre, though it may not stand out as a must-watch for others.

This is a unexpected surprise

Hold on this is a film that will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, suspense, and unexpected thrills. This movie to me was I did not watch the trailer, instead I had a tale that its going to be b-horror film, but I wasnt expected to be an Indonesia film and it did surpassed all extremely low expectations to a high 80% out of 100% the female evil laugh was annoying towards the third act. I wasn't expecting this to be a DONT BREATHE & EVIL DEAD without any English. This was thrown into a world that is both hauntingly familiar and eerily unsettling. The director has done an exceptional job of creating an atmosphere that is palpable, with a sense of dread that lingers long after the credits roll. Post Credit Scene and a scene after the credits that you don't wanna muss. These characters are well-developed, with each actor bringing a unique and compelling performance that adds depth to their roles. The one mob guy almost died. The chemistry between the cast members is undeniable, making for some truly memorable scenes with a extra credit of masterclass in suspense and horror. Just when you think you have it figured out, the story takes an unexpected turn that leaves you many multiple choices. Cinematography and VFX are done in this type of mix pratical effects with mix CG effects.

So there's half on half kinda like coffee creamer you buy at the grocery store. Pemukiman Setan" aka "The Devil's Lair" (2023) is a film that defies expectations. It's a thrilling ride that will leave you breathless and wanting more. If you're a fan of suspense and horror, this is one movie you don't want to miss. If you haven't watch this one yet, it's not out in the U. S but all other countries was just released on Independence Day this year. But when you will watch it, then you won't be disappointed.
