Meh.

The plot seems like someone prompted generative AI to make a movie that blends the elements from Before Sunrise (1995), The Notebook (2004), and A Walk to Remember (2002) altogether and called it a day. And this is supposed to be based on a book?? KJ Apa and Madelyn Cline are hot on their own, but whenever they shared a scene, their hotness scale plummeted as there was no chemistry whatsoever. Also, the use of a vertical frame to show the characters interacting via phone screen is the death of modern-day filmmaking.

A Gift Wrapped in Goodbye

A bittersweet romance that plays it safe but still leaves you with warmth at the end. The story is predictable, but the emotional payoff works-you finish the film smiling. Some parts feel overly romanticized or disconnected from reality, like the rushed marriage between Connie and Raef, the friends forcing their way into Viktor's apartment, or Heather's friend conveniently showing up back from the Camino just as she returned. Heather is portrayed with authenticity, while Jack is drawn as a bit too mysterious to fully connect with. The music enhances the atmosphere, and one standout line comes from Heather's father, who says he could choose to hate her mother for leaving or love her for giving him Heather-a moment that adds real emotional depth.

Holiday escapism easy viewing

Watch this with your daughter, watch this with your girlfriends, and I'm pretty sure partners won't object - the actors and backdrops are very easy on the eye after all. Great holiday escapism as three best uni friends tour Europe post uni and pre 'proper job' life back home in the US. The route is planned but sensibly they've factored in time to go local and live in the moment..., which of course involves adventures with good looking travel companions along the way. It's a poignant storyline which I won't spoil - and in the meantime you get to drag out the summer a little longer and enjoy the stunning scenery of Barcelona, Basque Country, Porto and Rome.
