I saw this performed at the Southwark Playhouse and the recorded performance captures it amazingly well. The themes of being trapped and out of control of your own destiny are artfully woven into the story. The joy of escape and being able to be yourself comes through brilliantly.

The casting is superb and the simplicity of the staging really pushes the emphasis onto the performances. The combination of the traditional Shakespearean dialogue and modern conversational style is excellently done, and brings up some of the fantastic one liners to add some wit into the proceedings.

Fantastically metatextual, witty, funny, sexy, irreverent and profound - a love letter to Shakespeare and theatre, and a startlingly deep-hitting piece about identity, societal roles, choices and family. Without spoiling any elements of the plot, The Prince has one of the best comments on the "honourable" death since Wilfred Owen.

I like Shakespeare, I've watched Abigail Thorne's content for years, so I expected a decent experience-The Prince exceeded all expectations - and there's plenty to enjoy even for those usually averse to theatre. I cannot underline that enough, and I fear: I watched it with my ttrpg group and it was unanimously well-received despite our varied tastes in media.

They did some fantastic lightwork and inventive decision with the limited, quite spartan scene set. The whole of the cast is marvellous.

Worth supporting for just the potential it represents, for new and inventive productions to fund themselves and reach wider audience.
