Plot summary

NYC, Central Park, 2010. Five young teenagers are violently assaulted. But they’re not your average teenagers… they’re prodigies. The trauma of the assault incites them to lash out against the world in a cold and calculating way. The five chillingly brilliant minds come together to concoct a perfect revenge. The only person aware of the pending doom is Jimbo Farrar, a sixth prodigy, who has gathered them. As long as he fights against his five counterparts with all his might, there’s hope for the world. But should he turn over to their side, it’s only a matter of time before a disaster of apocalyptic proportions ensues…

$30m budget? How?? I've seen better Youtuber animations

This has terrible cheap-looking animation, with jerky movement and stiff faces. The fat kid especially: his face never moved! Generally voice-sync is quite terrible. The action set-pieces are passable, sometimes even decent. Colours and compositions ok tho' not really striking in any way.We can forgive poor-quality animation if the writing is good. Alas, no...it's quite bad. The premise is bogstandard 'mutant human' stuff. No neat sci-fi or philosophical ideas, tho' a point to the 'monstrous' exaggerated-attack scenes...conceptually had potential even if nothing really came of it.Character-motivations are very basically-written. The voice acting fares little better: having a 30-year-old woman voice the vulnerable 14-year-old girl wasn't clever casting. My 3D-Bluray for some reason only had English and German dubs.... I believe French may be the original.Speaking of 3D: this one is only for the completists. Depth is ok, some mild pop.The Prodigies is infamous (as infamous as a little-known flop can be) for a violent sexual assault at the half-hour mark. It's uncomfortable viewing, and not in a good way. While not too graphic, it still leaves a bitter taste.Should anyone seek this film out? Can't recommend to kids as it's too violent. For adults the writing is too immature. For anime fans looking for something European or for 3D-completists there may be something of value...but I didn't really find it.

Uniquely made must see animated movie!!!

Not your typical animated movie,great story. I purchased the steelbook 3d and I'm extremely happy and impressed with the quality not just how great of a movie it is but the steelbook is top notch!! Watch this movie, an absolute must see
