Plot summary

Traveling in search of the rare ingredient, “sky fish” Meliodas and Hawk arrive at a palace that floats above the clouds. The people there are busy preparing a ceremony, meant to protect their home from a ferocious beast that awakens once every 3,000 years. But before the ritual is complete, the Six Knights of Black—a Demon Clan army—removes the seal on the beast, threatening the lives of everyone in the Sky Palace.

Not bad

As a fan of The Seven Deadly Sins anime series, Prisoners of the Sky offers a visually vibrant and action-packed addition to the franchise, but it ultimately feels more like a high-budget filler episode than a fully fleshed-out feature film. The animation is top-tier, and the action sequences-especially those involving Meliodas and Escanor-are thrilling and flashy, just what fans have come to expect. There are also a few decent moments of humor and heart, staying true to the show's style. However, the story is where the movie stumbles. The plot is incredibly formulaic: a forgotten ancient race, a new powerful villain, and a rushed conflict resolution. The characters feel underused or one-dimensional, especially considering the rich personalities in the main series. New characters introduced in the Sky Temple setting don't get enough development to make us care much about their fate.In short, Prisoners of the Sky is entertaining if you're already a fan, but it doesn't add much to the larger narrative of the series. It's a fun watch once, but probably not something you'll revisit.

okay film

The Seven Deadly Sins travel to the Sky Temple in search of an elusive ingredient.

The movie itself wasn't bad but's not particularly some i could call great either.

Fills the between season void

After finishing the series off a friends recommendation, this was a welcome shock and just as good as the mainline series. A tale of mistaken identity which allows for the trademark comedy and telling of a new and ambitious story it was nice to see the film experiment with a more grand narrative and 3D animation styles infused with the iconic look of the show. As said in my Letterboxd review it's a shame it's going to be marked as non-canonical as frankly another 15 minutes of runtime could've been an excellent way to bridge season 3 and 4 (latter scheduled for a 2019 release) by reuniting the sins and following the film's plot, branching out the universe and providing some very interesting sub plots such as Hawk's Mom being the great white mother of chaos or even Hawks transformation ability which is yet to be seen in the show in such a manner. Additionally it would allow for the Celesitals/Sky people to possibly feature in the shows upcoming seasons to join the main cast of characters but given the fact it can be discarded as a one off it's a shame such potential was wasted. On the whole though there's not much to dislike, the same humour and charm are present and it's ambitious telling a rounded story in little under 1 hour 40, if you've got the time but more importantly seen the series I'd highly recommend a viewing to feed you appetite for the seven deadly sins, an enjoyable watch
