kiddie horror indie

Physically painful to watch

LOL at all the 10-star reviews. C'mon, just c'mon. I see you.The acting was terrible, the script was terrible, the plot was thin, and every scenario was unrealistic.The family didn't feel like a real family to me at all. And the horrific acting was a constant distraction.The worst thing was the acting. It was so bad, constantly and nearly all around, that I literally experienced vicarious embarrassment.

succeeds in spite of itself

One of those rare low-budget entries which works in spite of itself. A simplistic story; basic (overlit) cinematography; short run time (116 minutes); simplistic dialog; unexceptional acting (except for Ayla Bullington, who steals her scenes); and sub-par creature/costume effects -- should have been a dud, but for a family audience it hits the precise notes it was meant to hit, and holds the attention reasonably well. Also, an unusually aggressive influencer campaign is obvious in the early reviews, where the identical "brand points" are repeated over and over and over. Ad nauseam.
