Four Short Stories About Swindlers

1) In Tokyo, the waitress Yoshie (Mie Hama) dreams on having a pearl necklace. When she meets a rich old client (Ken Mitsuda) at the restaurant where she works, she glances at his bag and sees lots of bills. Further, he wears a very expensive platinum denture. She offers to clean his apartment, and they have sex. Suddenly, the man has heart attack and dies. She calls an ambulance and when she opens his bag, she sees that the bills are fake. She steals his denture, buys the aimed necklace using her savings and has a great surprise. This sexy segment is funny, with a lesson to the greedy woman. My vote is six.2) The prostitute Maria Rosa (Gabriella Giorgelli) returns to Naples after being expelled by the police. Her client, who is a law student, suggests that she marries an old man from the hospice to have the right to stay in Naples. She tells her pimp, and he imagines building a marriage agency for prostitutes and old men to make more money. She marries an old man, but things do not happen as planned. This silly segment entertains, with a lesson to the swindlers. My vote is six.3) In Germany, Mr. Humlaupt (Francis Blanche) is a great fan of the Eiffel Tower. When the swindler Alain des Arcys (Jean-Pierre Cassel) meets him, he plans a scheme with his gang of swindlers to sell the Eiffel Tower to the German. He summons him to come to Paris and he sells the tower to the naive German per a fortune. When the man goes to the Eiffel Tower believing he is the owner, he has a surprise. This segment is the best one in this film. The scheme of the swindlers is very funny, with a funny conclusion. My vote is seven.4) In Morocco, the TV journalist Patricia Leacock (Jean Seberg) is the host of a show and is filming people and locations in the country. She sees a man in an American car distributing money to the poor people. When she buys typical clothing of the country, she is arrested by the police. At the precinct, she learns that she was using forged money, but the chief of police releases her. Patricia looks for the counterfeiter and when she meets him, he explains why he forges money. This segment is the weakest one but worthwhile watching because of the beautiful Jean Seberg in the lead role. My vote is five.Unfortunately, Roman Polanski's segment in Amsterdam was deleted under the request of the director. My global vote is six.Title (Brazil): "Os Maiores Vigaristas do Mundo" ("The Greatest Swindlers of the World")

Godard's final sequence turns the project's dynamics on their head

The first to Japan made the audio-visual language is so great and love it!

The second one was deleted.

The third and fourth feel influenced by Kurosawa Akira's movie style is quite big, with the characters of the spatial relationship to create the beauty of the picture, deep in the style of Kurosawa Akira.

The final Godard is still a heavyweight, responding to the cinéma vérité movement of the 1962 Chronicle of the Summer and presenting the theme of "fraud" in a different light. Here it seems that the fixation on good and evil has been stripped away and turned into a stance, aimed at the powers that be.

It's good, I don't know why it's rated so low.
